im selling my 89 kdx and buying another bike . whats the best early 90s 250? also how bad is gas consumption for 250s and 500s because i might buy a kx500 also how can i pick a decent one up for around 1250

For a 250 Id look for a 89 to 93 Honda CR,or a 93 up Kawasaki KX,and any 89 on up CR or KX 500.I have a KX 500 and the faster you ride the worse the gas milage, but you dont ride 500s for gas milage. If you are limited to $1200.00 a 500 would be a good choice since its not as likely to be ridden as hard as the same year 250 would, and 500s have not had that many changes since the early90s.You should read the Motocross& off-road performance book written by Eric Gorr before selling or buying a bike.

i got that book any way how is the gas, i mean how long can you ride ?
i dont know how much i am limetied too bu i put my kdx down for 1500 bu i suspect i will have to go down

CR's are good but so are the YZ's. Eric can turn the motor into something special too.

I would take my '93 WR250 engine and put it in any modern chasis if I had the dough. It was that good.

i think you will find that used hondas are usually worth more and are in better shape. i think that they use better materials than some of the other brands. if i was looking ,i would look for a 93 to 96 cr 250 in good shape. you would be hard pressed to find some thing more competetive. good luck!
