my old xr80 i think the crank bearings are shot. what is accepable? i can grip the flywheel n pull it in and out but it dosnt have much if any up and down movement. what do u think?

You should not be able to move your crank up and down or side to side. I think that your crank journals are probably worn (the area the the main bearing rides on). Installing new main bearings will not cure this. Can you see if the crank is sliding in and out of the bearing or is the main bearing inner race moving that much? You would have the pull the fly wheel to see this. Good luck.
