Quicksand

I hope I picked the right place to post.
Yesterday I was riding to one of my usual destinations with one other buddy. I missed a turn and decided to turn back in a puddle about 4" deep and 8x8 wide. It had leaves on the bottom and looked innocent enough. By the time I hit the middle I was up to my crotch in muck. I jumped off the bike and tried to gun it through but my attempt was futile.
If it wasn't for the other guy reaching in for the front wheel I believe I could have dumped it sideways before I got it out, or at the least put more sweat into it than I would care to.
It started right up although it ran a little funny for the next mile or so. I'm glad I greased all my connections and ran the carb hoses to the airbox recently, and after this, I guess I'll seal up the airbox.
Just another unexpected.
