Shock Rebound?

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Just a quick question. I'm working to try to get my shock working right, and I don't understand it all. When I turn the rebound screw (that's the one on the bottom of the shock, right?) out, my bike corners really well (when adjusted this way, the bike likes to wheelie out of the corners), but it the back jumps out of this little ditch I hit. How can I keep this cornering, but not have it rebound as hard? Thanks

well from a geometry point of view when your rebound is set soft it helps the bike ride higher in the back . If you stiffen up the rebound on the forks or slide the forks up in the triple clamps you might be able to get the same geometry. But I am sure you will find something where these settings dont make you happy. Unfortunately suspension settings from track to track and obstacle to obstacle is a compromise to get the fastest LAP times for you.

adjust only one thing at a time and I would suggest writing down the settings and a note describing how the bike felt and lap times for the track you are riding if you have the time and patience. This way you always will have a good referance point and will always know what did what when.

I had the same problem today during a soft sand dirttrack race. I raised up the fork tube so as to bring my front down for better control in the berms but totally lose my rear........it just kicks back on me when hit the whoops causing me unable to accelerate confidently across the bumpy whoops. I love the low front now as I have a Scotts damper to help me offset the headshakes........is there any setting i can do to my shock to correct the kicking back effect? Will adding more rebound to the shock help?

YG,
Your problem is less likely rebound in sand but compression. Run your compresssion way stiffer, and then add rebound once the bike goes straight.

Jer
