DRN Day at Cooperland if you want it.

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Posted by: Thump---------------------

I just got off the phone with the new owner of Cooperland, Kris Brown, AKA Brownie here on DRN. He was going to have the track closed for the weekend but if we want to do a little mini DW riding he says we can if we can get enough people. Let me know what you think July 6-7 that is Saturday and Sunday. It would be $10/day Groomed and watered. And you woods guys could go play hide and seek in the trees.

Posted by: mx547---------------------

july 5-6 is friday and saturday. i can go on sunday. which is it?

Posted by: jeffd---------------------

Hmmmm.

Gotta see about that one. Hopefully I'll have some new bikes for me and the kiddos by then. It is a maybe at this point in time though....

-jeffd

Posted by: biglou---------------------

Man, I'm gonna drive the wheels off my truck this summer! I'm a definite maybe.

Posted by: CC_RIDER---------------------

I'm a definite possible.

I'll have to check the schedule (wife) and will let you know soon.

If so, there will be at least three of us (riders).

I also need to know if it's Fri-Sat or Sat-Sun.

Sorry I meant 6-7 Sat and Sunday

Posted by: mx547---------------------

c'mon guys, let's get this going. heartland spodes? north texas snack pack? anyone got a bike for bswift to ride?

Posted by: blackhawk468---------------------

I can probley go if I can hitch a ride with someone.

Posted by: el presidente---------------------

i would, but being from Ohio and all thats a far drive to just 2 days. have fun yall

Posted by: BSWIFT---------------------

I can be there, will need to a bike. See Flame Forum for more info.

Posted by: biglou---------------------

Brian-I'll give you a call when I get back from Wardy's. Probably Sunday. If I go, I'll cover you for a bike.

Posted by: super rat---------------------

I need to take the winter slicks (bald tires) off my van, my wife needs a bike yet, 10 hours is a long haul for an 8 week old little girl. :silly: I'm a definite maybe, I'll say yes or no by this Sunday. Man that place looks soooo fun.

Posted by: Lorin---------------------

I will make it at least one of those days, and should have at least one other person with me.

Posted by: justql---------------------

I voted not sure. But I am 99% sure I can make it. BSwift I'll bring both gassers.

Posted by: biglou---------------------

Ditto what justql said. I voted "Not Sure", but am a definite probable. If you are going to supply Brian with a bike, my trip will be a lot easier. I am trying to get Agent Orange to come down with me. Three bikes would mean me pulling his trailer with two bikes plus one in the back of the pickup. Two bikes means I can make him drive! :D

Posted by: Brian---------------------

The boss and I can probably make it

Posted by: mkuder---------------------

Oh yeah. I have been working on my new Shop/Garage, for what seems like forever, and haven't ridden in 2 or 3 mo.s now. :whiner: I'm ready. I'm sure as with all Cooperland events we can camp!

Posted by: Thump---------------------

If you can make it please take part in the Pole above, if we don't get enough people we will not be doing it.

Posted by: biglou---------------------

I'll post Sunday a defiinite yes or no. Won't know till then. Hope that's not too late.

Posted by: slo' mo---------------------

very good chance me and No_Mo could make it for a Saturday. May be a good chance to bring the Missus and the daughter Mo for a test run.

I voted "Not Sure" but there would be an 85-95% probability of making it.

Posted by: 326mx---------------------

In early July I might be headin to Tulsa... what is the distance from Tulsa to Still water??

Posted by: BSWIFT---------------------

Thanks BigLou and Justql. I can help with "class A" accomadations. Is the tail gator up for another weekend, Justql?
326MX, 70 miles. Let me know and I can help get you there.

Posted by: justql---------------------

Problem is the tailgator might be at the farm that weekend. I might be driving beck and forth. I'll talk to the wife and find out for certain. If Its not at the farm then you and whoever else can fit in can have a cool place to sleep.

Posted by: 326mx---------------------

BSwift, I'll keep you updated

Posted by: slo' mo---------------------

Change that to a 95% - 99.9% sure Thump. THe Mrs. thinks it would be good to be able to check out Cooperland to see if her and the daughter Mo would like to sign up. Only thing that would prevent us now is a mechanical breakdown. Well, maybe a nervous breakdown could too...

BTW - any chance at spending the night on premises so we can report on nightime activity for the coming DW?

Posted by: CC_RIDER---------------------

Thump, is camping for the night going to be available?

It looks like we will be able to go! At least three riders.

Are non DRN members welcome? I have a friend and his son who might like to join us also.

Posted by: craig_enid---------------------

I voted not sure, but should make one of the days. Depends on daughter's work schedule.
I'll bring my Trek for Swift... then maybe I could keep up with him :silly:

Posted by: Thump---------------------

CC Yes you can camp. and Non DRN members are welcome.

Posted by: Thump---------------------

OKKXr said he would come out to watch LOL. and I have at least 2 from here that would be in.

So if I am reading the maybe's right that is 15
Plus 5 that say for sure.
Plus at least 2 others that I know of...

Looks like 22 so far?

We will give it till Monday before I call Kris and give him the numbers to see if he will open or not.

Posted by: mx547---------------------

i am in for sunday only. my 25 year high school reunion is saturday (yes, i'm that old). my oldest daughter will probably come also. i could probably find a few guests too if we need more numbers.

Posted by: justql---------------------

I'll be there Saturday for sure and maybe Sunday. I will have the tailgator for you Heartland Spodes that need a place to sleep with AC.

Posted by: Lorin---------------------

I'll stop by Arby's on the way and pick up some roast beef sandwhiches! Justin, I may try to wrangle a spot in the trailer.

Posted by: mkuder---------------------

When this becomes a sure thing are the gates going to be open friday evening?

Posted by: justql---------------------

:scream:

Posted by: TwinSpar---------------------

Looks like I may go.

Posted by: Blue Thunder---------------------

The possibility is there for a handfull of KC area riders to come down for the afternoon of Saturday and most of Sunday..My fingers are crossed in hope that my wife hasn't planned 10 different gatherings for us to attend :scream:

Posted by: CC_RIDER---------------------

Thump, do you know if we'll be able to roll in Friday night or will we need to stay at a motel? I don't want to blow half of Sat. driving.
It's only about a five hour drive for us, but I'd rather leave home about 4-5 pm Fri. and be fresh for Sat.

We're pumped! I'm redoing my front suspension this weekend (pesky leaking seal) ,
and then will install my new DRN fender stickers !

I'm old and slow, but ready to go!

I second the :scream: !

Posted by: super rat---------------------

I'm OUT. Have fun guys. That place looks fun

Posted by: jeffd---------------------

Looks like I'll be able to make it Sunday!

-jeffd

Posted by: MX221---------------------

If you have it I'll be there atleast for one day.

Shane

Oops...
If I go at all it will be Saturday.

Posted by: CC_RIDER---------------------

So........

Are we on?

Posted by: DWreck---------------------

Count me in. I love Cooperland!

Posted by: berm buster---------------------

I can definitely go, and probably bring 2 of my riding buddies.
Hope we can get enough to make this happen.
I can stay for both days.

Posted by: Thump---------------------

He is deciding right now.... He said he will get in touch with me later today to let me know. Keep your fingers crossed.

Posted by: MTRIDER---------------------

Count me in for Saturday ......

Posted by: biglou---------------------

I'm out. Can't get Al to make the drive. I did right at 1k miles this past weekend up to Wardy's. I gotta take a break!

Posted by: Brian---------------------

Looks like I'm out, too. I voted 'not sure', so I didn't screw up the 'definately' count.

Posted by: justql---------------------

I'm still in. Is it a go? I hope so. I need a good mx ride.

Posted by: MX221---------------------

Thump, I don't mean to step on your toes, but... I just called Kristopher myself to try and encourage him to have it. It's not 100% yet but it does look like it's a go. He will call me back later to let me know for sure.

Shane

Posted by: BSWIFT---------------------

Whoohoo! I hope!

Posted by: CC_RIDER---------------------

?

Posted by: motox757---------------------

Voted in the "not sure" category... If I go it will be on Sunday.

Is it still on? If so, what time do they open up the gates?

I'm cramping, man. Forget about arm pump, somebody pull my finger(s)

Posted by: mkuder---------------------

I must be in a different twilight zone.

Posted by: Thump---------------------

IT IS A GO!!!!
Houston we have lift off!!! See you guys there!

Posted by: biglou---------------------

Let the waffling begin: I said I wasn't gonna make it, now it looks like I may be coming. Don't count me, but if someone local up here will ride with, I'll be there. Right now I'm about 75% sure I'll make it. Saturday only for us, however.

Posted by: Thump---------------------

You can come in Friday night and camp. Riding Saturday and Sunday. $10/day.

Track will be ready to ride by 10am!!!! He will have it all groomed and watered! Bring your friends and families with ya!

Also bring as many Yamaha stickers as you can find... Brownie is a HUGE fan of the Yamaha and wants the stickers for his dozers.

Posted by: 94KX250---------------------

I will be there if it helps any.

Shane

Posted by: CC_RIDER---------------------

The four of us will be there Fri. night!

Our first time to ride with fellow DRN'ers!!!!

Thanks, Thump!

Posted by: OKKX'er---------------------

Unless I can't get my fork seal in by then, see ya'll saturday. bring lots of gas, you'll be on the main jet!

Posted by: mx547---------------------

i just read on the oklahoma board that it is an open practice. what happened? i thought we were going to have a private practice.

it also says that practice will probably start at noon.

Posted by: biglou---------------------

We're in!

Myself, Blue Thunder and KCHusky will be there Sat morning around 9, maybe a little earlier. See you all there!

Posted by: JuliusPleaser---------------------

Is Cooperland close to I-40? I'll be driving back from Arizona Saturday or Sunday, and i'd like to stop by and give you guys the finger.

Posted by: tx246---------------------

im thinking of going but need someone to copilot. i would like to leave out early sat am. (5am) stay the night and head back at say 12 or 1 on sunday. if this sounds like something you want to do let me know asap. pm me. or post.

Posted by: biglou---------------------

Gene-Come on up anyway. Maybe hop in with Thump. There appears to be a few coming from Tejas. Be good to see you again. It'll be a heck of a birthday ride!

Yeah, What he said???

Posted by: motodawg---------------------

Julius - I40 runs through the south side of OKC. You'll need to catch I35 North in OKC and head towards Wichita. From I-35 take exit 174 and go 6 ½ miles east on Hwy 51 to Coyle Rd, 5 miles south on Coyle to 80th Street, East on 80th for 1 ½ miles and the track entrance will be on your left.
Sunday for sure, Saturday.... a definite maybe. The boy just growth-spurted his way onto my YZ125. Anyone need wicked '02 YZ85? ProCircuit, Tag T2 bars and clamp, One Industries graphics and seat, new clutch, etc.

Posted by: justql---------------------

tx 246- Lorin and bswift and my oldest son and I are going to be in the tailgator. We've got room for you too. Bring a cot/sleeping bag/small matress to sleep on in the back. You'll regret it if you don 't come.

Julius- Come on up it's maybe an hour and fifteen minutes north of I40. Bring your gear and you can even get some laps in on one of my gassers.

Which oklahoma board? motocrossOK.com? I checked the calendar on motocrossOK.com and Cooperland has practice scheduled on a lot of upcoming Sundays (as well as Saturday and Wednesdays) througn the end of August. And they note that practice starts at 10:00 AM. I don't think this will be a private DRN ride... ...unless motocrossOK.com posted too many dates???

Checked the Cooperland.com as well and they only show practice days on the Satuday before a Sunday race.

????

I called and the message stated that they are having open practice the 6th & 7th as motocrossok.com shows!

There's no whining , just wanted to know who was who on DRN this new twist will just add to the mix. I'll be there.

Posted by: Thump---------------------

Yes it is open practice. It was going to be closed because he figured turn out would be low, but we have shown him otherwise. Open practice on that track is never crowded.

Quit yer bitchin and come on.... less yer skeered. LOL

Posted by: biglou---------------------

I'll be bringin' the punkin, so don't you guys get me confused with Mr. Cooper, now! (Not bloody likely!)

Posted by: Blue Thunder---------------------

Thump or any of you guys that can push for a 10am open, looks like quite a few are driving a fair distance, we are leaving in the wee a.m. hours, to not ride until noon could make for a long day w/o much riding....are there trails that can be run also? No bitchin' here, just want to get saddle time since it is a day trip.
Looking forward to seeing this place as I won't be able to make DW02'...the pictures that were posted on here from a recent trip are enough to make me jazzed about touching this Oklahoma soil for the first time...
Lou...once you get the "Pancake" down a tad better it will be even harder to keep from getting you mixed up with Guy....

What day are you coming down for? The thread that mx547 posted above at the mxstates.com board is from the track operator (I think) and he is concerned about the weather conditions leading up to Saturady and Sunday. I don't think he has anything to worry about though...

Maybe Thump has some pull with brownie and can get the track ready by mid morning...

Posted by: Blue Thunder---------------------

BigLou and our band of freakish woods riders will be attending Saturday's festivities...should be easy to spot..look for the 426 that looks most out of place on a motox track..big clear tank, Cycra handguards...#212..looking forward to this one! Jason

Posted by: Thump---------------------

Thunder, the track will be ready by 10am. Possibly earlier depending on how much it needs. The trails are there for the riding. Pretty over grown last I saw but yours to play with as early as you want.

This is me... the slow guy on the 426 #93. Make sure you introduce yourself.

Posted by: biglou---------------------

Yeah, I heard about the "slow guy" nailing that step up in 4th gear pinned...:D

Posted by: Blue Thunder---------------------

Cool man, hope to meet ya and latch on to a rear fender of someone to time the jumps...slow..whatever...judging the size of that jump..if slow guys are doing it..then what are the fast guys doing???Back Flips? Cripes.
KCHusky,CRSwade and myself w/be w/the infamous BigLou..I'm sure we will get to meet, chat and roost together on Saturday. I'm outta here til then.
Jason

I won't be there on Saturday, at least that is the plan today. Could change once the wife gets back from Colorado on Thursday. I plan on being there on Sunday... ...early...

Posted by: Smitty---------------------

Well, I think I may have to swing up there Saturday to make sure all the ponds are holding water! 10 AM Saturday Right?

Attention freakish woods riders ! The 500 (acres) with 20+ miles of trail is 6 miles away.

Posted by: biglou---------------------

Looks like five of us now, we are going to have us a busload of spodes! Myself, Blue Thunder, CRSwade, KCHusky and redXR. We'll be in a gold ford van with a trailer full of bike in tow!

Glad you can make it, Gene. This is gonna be fun!

Posted by: BSWIFT---------------------

I'll haul you to the 500, Gene. good to see all you guys again.

I guess the good things out shadowed the bad at Badlands. I'm bringing the new thumper. The Mamba is still out of commision. Should be back in a week or so.
Lou, before Robert rides, we are taping his ankles with enough duck tape to fix 500 seat covers and seal up 2500 boxes. I'll bring some tempered steel to help reinforce to tape.

Posted by: Milk---------------------

Looks like I shall show up Saturday in the AM. I probably wont ride (bruised or broken ribs-not sure) but I am bring my video camera to catch you guys in action. Im bringing the bike just in case............

Posted by: justql---------------------

I'll be there Saturday by 10:00. One or two of my sons may be with me. I might be by myself. I'll have the tailgator, gassers and a big grin.

Posted by: mx547---------------------
