Not sure what your question is, do you mean best enduro event or best enduro bike? Either way, it would be easier to answer the question to know more about you, your riding experience, and your skill level first.

im 16 new yorker and have ridden a bultaco 2 stroke 250cc in the dirt for about a year. i need and enduro bike for 80-90% street use. what should I get? i would like another 2 stroke though what do you think?

The term enduro bike has been carried over from the 70's. Todays enduro bikes may appear street legal with a headlight, tail light and (sometimes) a license plate, but they are not manufactured to be street-legal. The owners usually have to jump through hoops and/or lie through their teeth to get a license plate.

What you are looking for is a dual-sport bike. These are bikes that are manufactured to meet the DOT street-legal requirements for all 50 states. The only factory 2-stroke dual-sport bike still (possibly) being manufactured is the Kawasaki KE100. The choice of good street-legal bikes is very slim. Try looking for a used Suzuki DR350S.

Here's the dual sport I bought when I was 16:

As a 16-year-old, I loved that bike. That model was discountinued in '88, but Suzuki brought it back (more or less) as a DR200 a few years ago. Just big enough to cruise at highway speeds and only partially numb your hands. Would be O.K. for 80-90% street use; dirt roads and light trails are about all it can handle off-road. A mid to late 1990's model could probably be bought reasonably. Either that or WoodsRider's DR350 suggestion.

what about the yamaha xt's?

The 225 sits too low and should only be ridden slow off-road. The 350 has better suspension, but uses a unique carburetor that can be very finicky when ridden off-road. The 600 is just too bulky and heavy for off-road use as would almost all 600/620/640/650 bikes for a 16 year-old. All of these bikes are based on mid-80's designs and have seen little, if any, changes over the years of production.

Another option would be the Kawasaki KLR250, but again it's based on a mid-80's design.

The DRZ400S is by far the best dual purpose bike on the market today. You can actually ride it off road with a minimal amount of mods.

the klr models seem to be taller for offroad

I 2nd the DRZ400. I rode a friends (off-road) and it did very well for a street legal bike.

Consider adding lights and turn signals to a dirt bike. The best 2 stroke dirt bike that can be street legal is the Kawasaki KDX200. I have the SR international version that comes with speedo, turn signals, horn, indicator lights, etc. I super love it. It kicks ass both on the dirt and the street. But it isn't available to you yanks so you have to get a normal KDX and add stuff to it.
For making a Kawasaki KDX (200 or 220) street legal for $395 go to
http://www.bajadesigns.com/Merchant...de=kawasaki+DSK
Look at the KDX forum pages and look at the positive responses to others question whether or not KDX owners like their bike.
Another option for a conversion kit is available at http://www.elineaccessories.com/MulitSportKits.asp
But first check to see if your state also requires a speedometer/odometer which these kits probably don't supply. But one can be bought seperately from bajadesigns.
:-)
