Picked Up 2001 Wr 426! Please Help With Free Mods

DUDE! I finaly got one. Well anyway, I would apreciate it very much if you guys could tell me ALL the free mods you can do to this bike, how to do them, and once they're all done, jetting sugestions. Thats all. Thanks in advance. MAN IM STOKED

To tell you about all the free mods would take a lot of time. The basic mods that you should do are documented very well either here or on Thumpertalk.com. In a nutshell here are a few to get you started:
Take out the throttle stop screw, file it down to be 23mm in TOTAL length, and reinsert it.
Take off the airbox lid and place it in the trash. You dont need it.
Do a search for "grey wire". Read it, find it, disconnect it.
When you are used to the bikes power, go out and buy yourself a larger main jet, a needle (I prefer the OBELN) and a 42 pilot jet. This will make the bike alot more fun in the mid-range to ride. All this info is available to you, including step by step instructions if you just take the time to look for it. Good luck and congrats.

Good post, wayne. One thing to comment on though, removing the airbox lid w/o properly rejetting will cause the engine to run lean which can cause damage. Id reccomend doing both the lid and jetting at the same time. Don't forget the pea shooter baffle too. Get a vortip baffle, works way better.

Yep, the baffle is prob the most important thing.

Is the baffle close to the end of the spark arrestor or is it way back in as my friends we never could find it.

Since its a 2001 I am assuming its used? If so there is a fair chance that some of the mods may already be done. ie baffle

If the end of the exhaust is open, its been taken out. If theres a plug with a hole the size of a dime in the end, you wont go very fast.
