hey, i've got a 02 cr125 and love the suspension and frame but hate the 2 stroke motor. its good when its running but all the maintains sucks. this may be a stupid question but i was wandering if it is possible to but a 4 stroke motor on. something at least 200cc. i don't know if it would work or not. i hate to sell the motorcycle because the frame and suspension is so good. thanks

you should check out BBR's website.
they do some cool conversions.

Endo beat me to it, but ditto on BBR.

i found a picture of a cr125 and a xr200 conversion but no info. any other ideas.

We have built several. Look up CRX 280 on your search engine

Kyle,
What kind of bike do you want to build?
MX,AX,FX,SX, desert, enduro...
I have thought about having a 250F motor in a Cr125 frame.
I would build it strictly for MX.
Hope this helps.

A high revving 4 stroke needs alot of maintenance. If you fit a wiseco/vertex piston kit to your 125 you could easily go 25hours between rebuilds-if you are trail riding i bet you could go 40 hours on a piston and 20 on a ring.

BBR does all sorts of conversions. YZ/WR250F with CR125, XR200 with CR125, anything. You could also try sending your CR125 engine to Eric Gorr and get him to boost displacement and port the engine.

I have just finished a Honda CR80 / XR100 combo (Pics to come soon) and conversions can be a bit of a pig. Think about wiring, cables, clearances, kick starters, shifters etc. The companies spend $$$$$$$$$$$$ to get it right, well pretty close.
Swing a leg over a few of the new 4 strokes and ride. The CR might not feel that fantastic but then it might be just perfect

BBR no longer does XR200/CR conversions in the full size frame. They only do the CR 125/YZ 250F now. They aren't cheap, but call them if you are serious enough to want details. Duane or Chris can fill you in on what you need to do. Remember, if you live too far away to drive, think about shipping; the bike will need to be crated and shipped air or truck freight. The Magic Brown Truck can't deliver those types of packages.
BBR does do a YZ 250F and XR 200 conversion with an aluminum frame that's the size of a CR 80 bigwheel that are very popular with adults as well as kids, and the horsepower to weight ratio there is phenomenal.
Of course you can save lots of money and get a YZF and deal with the weight, or put a flywheel weight on the CR and hang in there until the CRF 250 comes out.
BTW, if you do decide to call BBR, please read the FAQs first--they can answer a lot of your questions and the guys in the shop are too busy to go over stuff that can be found on the website.
