KTM200, YZ250F, WR250F? Which one??

Ok, some basic info. I'm 5'9", 140lbs., 17yrs old, and an intermediate trail rider who likes, no...loves to race harescrambles. My last bike was a 1994 YZ125. It had decent speed, but couldn't keep pace with my right hand so I'm looking for a new bike.
>I've ridden a KTM 200(mixing gas isn't a plb.), it felt fast, but I didn't get to ride it for more than a few minutes so I don't know how well it handles in tight woods.
>Now if i don't get a KTM, I would like to have a 250F which one I don't know. I'm wondering, since I'm not going to be racing enduro's, what adjustments would I have to do to the YZ to make it the best woods bike ever. Even after these changes, would it be better than the KTM, or even the WR?
:D What do you, the people, have to say. Help enlighten me as to what bike I should get??

If your YZ couldn’t " keep up" with your right hand the WR is out. I have not ridden a YZ 250F but an EXC 200 ain’t far off from my WR 250 2S and a lot lighter too.
Let me know the how this works out.

The KTM handles great in the tight woods. It's a super fun bike to ride, light, easy to start and ride all day. It's not as powerful as a good 250 2 stroke, but it's strong enough to do the job. IMO, the KTM would be the best choice, but I really prefer 2 strokes.

Go for the KTM200, that way you can race the 200 class instead of 250, where you would be at a definite power disadvantage.

The 200 is great for the Georgia woods. I have a YZ250F and love it in the woods around here too (NC and SC) but if you want a 2-stroke that can do it all, with light weight and good power the KTM200 is a very good option.

Hey Ivan, how do you know how much the 250F weighs?
Thanks

Not off the top of my head. There are a lot of threads in the thumper forum about the weight of the YZ250F. Try a search there or check out Thumpertalk.com

I raced a wr250 all last year and now I've got a ktm 200. The 200 feels 40 pounds lighter and doesn't wear you out as much. The wr250 had smoother power though and was better for riding below 90%.
Watch out if you go KTM. Some of the 200's have terrible vibration. I lucked out and got one that doesn't vibrate very much at all.

Being from the SE there should be some Gas Gas dealers around. All of your choices are great ones. If I was considering a new two stroke I would look at the GG, for the tight woods they are great.

A Husky, KTM or GasGas 250 2s ay not be a bad option either.
