Howdy folks. I'm not a newbie to DirtRider or to bikes, but I am to Thumpers. I'm writing as a favor for my brother who just bought a '98 WR400. The little I do know about those bikes is that there are some common performance things that can be done to the stock bike to improve performance such as "clipping grey wire, modifying timing to YZ specs, throttle stop, etc.". Other than hearing casual references to these things, I really don't know anything else about them.
However, I frequent these types of boards enough to know that this is probably one of those issues that has been discussed over and over so there's got to be some good resources in the archives or somewhere else. Can anyone point me to such resources or old threads? I swear that at one point on ThumperTalk (is that taboo to mention that board here) I saw some articles going through the details of these typical "upgrades" but can't find them anymore.
I'm quite sure that my brother's bike has had these mods done, but he just wants to educate himself on the bike to make sure he knows how and what was done, and I'm trying to help him out.

go to thumpertalk.com they cover all this extensivley. pm me with any specific questions. yeh baby..there it is , a TT referal, and i even spelled referal wrong 'cause i'm too lazy to use spell check, let alone go into all the mods, but not too lazy to taunt! so let the flames begin on how i'm not helping out our own forum, i'm feeling a lil' rich roar-ich tonight.

ah wayneo..it wasn't directed at him, sorry if it came out that way. heck, i even told him to pm me and i'd help with the specs and such. the lil rant was directed at some who blasted me in the members only forum for directing people to TT, they thought it was taking away from this site and we're..i..was being lazy at directing them to TT as oposed to answering it here. sorry if it came out like i was blasting ya mk, once you get to know me you'll realize i'm the last person here to blast anyone for asking ANY question or for help.darn, ran off a new member...

Of course I love DRN as well, but I have found more specific info on the 426 mods over there. That doesnt mean its not here, tho.

thumpertalk is a great place to discuss your specific bike, but be sure to do as much research through the archives as you can, because some of the comments/suggestions might contradict with the advice given. You will need to study and draw your own conclusions.
