Do you support the sport?

After a recent grocery shopping trip, I started wondering if other people supported our sport by purchasing products from companies who support our sport.
For example, I deliberately buy SpeedStick deodorant because of their Supercross sponsorship. When I buy casual shoes I deliberately buy shoes (Puma, Etnies) from companies that support us and advertise in our favorite magazines.
Obviously this can only be taken so far (I wouldn't necessarily ONLY consider buying a Chevy truck because they sponsor team Kawasaki) but my background in Marketing made me curious to see if anyone else made the same type of decisions.

yup

I havent really put too much thought into it but if it was a good product Im sure I would choose the supporting product over the non supporting.
Kinda like the Camelback uproar awhile ago. The thing cost me over $40 so I held onto it while others were throwing theirs away. Plus it's a quality product. My wife picked up another brand for my son and its junk. I am glad to hear that the Camelback thing is squared away.

the real question is "does anybody buy e-z widers?" :scream:
Posted by: lobotomy---------------------
Absolutely... If you don't support the companies that sponsor the sport, why would they bother?

Wow... no one has mentioned Bud Light yet
But, yes, both Red and I do the same. Much of our casual wear and misc. stuff if MX related (backpacks, watches, jackets, umbrellas, casual wear, sunglasses, etc...)

Im sure that I am not alone when I say I dont know half of the supporting companies. I think it would be a good idea if you guys start posting the products or the vendors name.

Hope this doesn't put us in the poser catagory again, but that's another story! If it's dirt related, I buy it AND wear it.

We'll probably buy enough to support an entire team for the 2nd SMB Racing harescramble, but only to be consumed around our own bombfire

In addition to buying sponsor's products, I only buy bike stuff from local dealers that support the Blue Ribbon Coalition and/or Northwest Motorcycle Assn.

Me too. I also agree with you about Chevys

I feal that we have a responsibility to support the sponsors of our sport.
Check out the flame board for a rollicking discussion about sponsors for DW02.
Without them, we would likely be riding only in our front yards! Prior to the advent of the internet, we were even looser than now and often were not represented in any way in the discussions that Impacted our sport except by the manufacturers that sold us stuff. They have an ulterior motive, but they were there for us.
I have been riding for 30+ years and the battles seem the same.
Well ... except for the new one with my knees!

definately need to support the DW sponcers. Show them that their $$ was well spent.
