Man.. .. Sep. 1st 2001 was a day to remember.. the day i got my shiny new 2002 CR80.. that was the beginning of it all.. now a year later badly in need of a 125(5'7' and on a 80).. i have quit ALL other sports and devoted all my time and money into my bike and motocross as a sport.
Then in february.. my cousin.. who lives 2 seconds away from me( in da boonies of course ) bought himself a 2001 CR125.. he is now quiting baseball and football and has already spent over 700 dollars into his bike and over 300 into gear and accessories.. now.. on August 12th.. off to the $500 MX school we both go. damn this is one expensive sport.. but its worth ever cent. Im just wondering.. is their a way out? or once it sucks you in theres no escape..

Nope, you're pretty much done for now, enjoy the ride and make it a long one

Baseball, football? I haven't played either of those in almost five years. I think that was right around the time I got my first bike! Five years and three bikes later I still love it as much as the first time I threw my leg over my XR 100.... then the rest of me followed the bike to the ground.

You mean there are other thing besides dirt bikes ?!?!? I just can't believe it.

I started in 1970. My brother put me in front of him on a Zookie 350. Been addicted to two wheels ever since. I got side tracked for a few years(hormones) but two wheels just kept calling. Now, every bar ditch, constructions site, and pasture make be think of riding.

Baseball? Football? Oh yeah! that's the stuff I skip over when surfing to find motorcycle shows. Never can figger out where they find all them coke snortin' millionares to play games.

You're stuck. There is absolutely no way out, but that's okay. I got the bug 2 years ago, and I've burned through 6 thousand dollars (which is a lot of money for a high schooler). Hang on tight

You too? I also look at pristine forested hills along the Highway and invision the trails made from ancient dirt ancestors before me. I just know they're there.

H26,
Motorcycles are a great and inexpensive sport compared to some. Flying for a hobby costs much more. The cheapest rental airplane goes for about $50.00 per hour. My dirtbike habit costs less than $10. When I strap an Army helicopter on my back I'm spending over $3000.00 of taxpayer money per flight hour. Makes you think, doesn't it.

Hey, at least it's cheaper than NASCAR!

Posted by: BigBore---------------------

I used to be into a lot of stick & ball sports before I started riding. I haven't even thought about them for years now. Everything I do is just stuff to take up time until I can go riding again.

The addiction starts out slow and harmless, maybe thoughts of Xr or used bike to putt around on. Then the monkey grabs hold and you need better transportation, riding cloths, protection equipment, and trick mods :scream: Then it's full blown addiction and you find yourself wanting the best, KTM of course No way out.

Stick and Ball sports:

Bobby, my enduro row mate and riding partner, and I are playing on my company's softball team this season. Our team sucks! We haven't won a game. We're just a bunch of small guys who write computer software for a living. We play against teams from Car dealerships and other such companies. The guys are huge and they kick the crap out of us every week.

Bobby and I just look at the guys and say to ourselves: "I bet I could smoke that guy on a dirt bike!! ha ha"

lmao Buying a dirtbike was your first mistake j/k Now you've entangled yourself into a never ending web of moto. You got your bike, but now you'll need to buy parts and gas for it, to get the parts you'll need a job, once you get a license the truck to carry the bike is needed, it just goes on and on and on. Soon enough people will notice you have something else on your mind than what they're talking about...why think about anything but moto Is it worth it?? Well I wouldn't have it any other way.

I too was sucked into dirtbikes and everything associated with them. I played football during my freshman and sophmore year but now that i'm going into my junior year, I "forgot" to sign up. Riding dirtbikes with friends is far more fun for me than blocking sweaty guys from sacking the quarterback. I think that I can and will learn more life leasons by working hard doing jobs and earning stuff for dirtbiking than I can learn in football. Sure football teaches teamwork, but I had 2 years of that.

I could never have a house on a golf course... I would never ride on a golf course but just looking at it everyday..... No way...... That must drive you up the wall.....You are definately "Master of you Domain".... Seinfeld....

Posted by: Jh85---------------------

The thing that really ticks me off is when I want to go riding. All of those golfers making tons of noise, I can't even concentrate

Posted by: kmccune---------------------

Well I suppose you could die ( lets hope not ) but that is the only way out that I know of. But why would you want out

Kevin
