YZ250F questions

I have heard of owners having crankshafts break even with perfect maintenance. Is it possible I could run into problems by lugging my motor in second gear for example such as in low speed cautious throttle application because of surface conditions sort of thing? I am sorta worried about this. I find the YZ250F sorta too much bike for me in terms of power. I rarely wind it out and when I do I am always impressed with how hard it pulls and fast it goes. Usually resulting in me getting up to an uncomfortable speed on the tight trails I frequent. It works out better for me in more open areas. Just curious.
Are there other mods I should definitely do to the bike to improve the bikes running? I don't need more power but I wouldn't mind making the power more maneagable. I find it very abrupt and not so smooth as I would like.
Maybe I got the wrong bike here. I also have a TTR-125L which I loved except I found the suspension inadaquate for my 170lbs. I liked the power characteristics but I also like to do some jumps and the suspension on the TTR is not made for that. So I thought the YZF would be perfect for me but it is really a bullet. Boy. I really find it a handful sometimes. Thoughts?

You can trade me for my 426 for a couple weeks and maybee you will get the hang of the 250...lol
Really though. I would add weight to the fly wheel and look into the BK Mod. It will improve you throttle response of the bottom and the won't come on in the top end as much.
Try some other exhaust that has a spark arrestor. That can take some of the thump away.
I took the neutral switch off my machine and seemed that it started a little easier at times.
Get a remote hot start/ ty davis, or Dr. Dubach.
Have fun and don't run into any trees.
