A friend of mine is thinking about buying an 01 husky CR 125 for $3695. He weighs around 160. The bike is stock and was barely ridden. The original owner saw someone hit a tree and die so he wants nothing to do with riding anymore. What is everyones opinion on this bike. I tried doing a search but it didnt help. Thanks in advance.

They are pretty good bikes but they were rebated real deep in 01 I think they were selling them new for like $3800 . They really dont hold their value too well and are not very easy to resell . They are not as easy to get parts for as like a KAWHONSUZYAM I used to work on them alot .

I have an '01 CR125 and it's been awesome. The only thing I've done to it mods-wise is to drop in a V-Force reed block (they're stock on '02s).
FWIW, I've never had any problem getting parts for mine, and I'll probably pick up an '03 when they come out.

Husky 125's strong point is the handling. With the suspension sorted they're light, super stable and quick turning. The basic motor design has been around for a few years, so they've constantly been refining it. It got a new crank and main bearings in 2000, along with improved shifting. They use high quality components - the pistons and bores will long outlast a japanese 125. There's plenty of power for a 160lb rider. An enduro conversion would be easy using WR parts. The majority of the chassis parts and all the plastics are common throughout the whole 2 stroke range 2000 0nwards. For a nearly 2 yr old MX'er it sounds a bit pricey though, maybe you could negotiate.

As soon a his quad sells he will be buying it. Resale value dosent mean much since he dosent plan on selling it anytime soon. It is a little pricey but its in very nice condition and it was trail riden. It has never even seen an MX track.
