The Kentuciana Chapter of DRN is having a Corn Beef Hash cookout in the DW slums Thursday night, all you need is a plate and a big spoon. Everyone invited 1st come 1st serve........Yum Yum
Just follow the your nose!!!

Posted by: Tony Eeds---------------------

Yum! I'll x out that evening on my food list. Can I bring anything to add to the feast?

Posted by: wheelie4strokeB---------------------

Tony, you can bring a bottle of HOT sauce if you'd like Yum Yum

Posted by: Tony Eeds---------------------

There are many types of hot ...

hot hot HOT HOT

Which would you prefer?

Posted by: slo' mo---------------------

I'll be bringing a tub of homemade salsa. A smaller tub for those who feel that salsa should leave a lasting impression :whiner:

also my own brand of venison jerky

Posted by: Hogwylde---------------------

Darn...see what i miss by not slummin this year.....but dont worry, i'll be by to visit!!

Posted by: wheelie4strokeB---------------------

Home made salsa and venison jerky, now your talking!!!!

Hogwylde -----------------you better be hanging out with us

Posted by: Timr---------------------

Looks like it'll be a food 'fest in the slums this year. Do I need to bring my turkey fryer? It can be used to fry turkey, do crab/shrimp/crawfish boils and fry catfish. Any of that sound good? I'm sure I can fit it in (maybe).

Posted by: biglou---------------------

*sniff, sniff-sniff* Is that FOOD I smell?!

Posted by: a454elk---------------------

FOOOOOOOOOOODDDDDDD!!

Posted by: Tony Eeds---------------------

I am solo, so I will be glad to toss my food into any pot that will have me, rather than eat alone. I know that won't happen, but just tossing it (the comment) out.

Posted by: slo' mo---------------------

Hogwylde,
don't tell me you are moving up into the realm of the RV castle this year? Did you fall into the good graces of the Okiewan?

Posted by: Treejumper---------------------

Slo' Mo,

He better atleast visit alot. I need someone to help You and Jeff fix my bike every other hour. Looks like i'll be bringing a pop up if we can fit the all the bikes in the bed of my truck. My uncle is loaning me his as a backup since i have bad luck. So maybe this year i can kill two bikes.

Tony,

I went solo last year and didnt eat a meal by myself all week. Eating alone wont be a problem, trust me!

Posted by: Timr---------------------

This is how my food went most days last year. Of course, I brought enough food to feed me and two other people. But:

Chadk01 usually made me eggs or something for breakfast
Mikeb usually gave me a sandwich or two for lunch
TTRGUY grilled my dinner

Jeff Allen and those guys had some pizza one night, I got a couple pieces of that.

I was never hungry, and I only ate 1/2 the food that I brought. Oh well.

Posted by: Tony Eeds---------------------

Well, I'll bring the usual .... Brats, steaks, eggs, bacon, sausage, tortillas, coffee and my food repair kit (spices).

What we really need is someone that could roast a pig. Yum! I'd say elk but I heard they are really tough unless of the highest quality!

I also can get some dry mesquite if needed.

Will bear fit in that fryer?

How big? The pot is 32 quarts.

Posted by: Tony Eeds---------------------

They just cubed an elk in another forum. Will it keep for 6 weeks?

That's how Lou met the Heartland Spodes!

Posted by: _SOLO_---------------------

Hot sauce- the hotter the better.

Posted by: Jaybird---------------------

Timr,
You gonna bring us up a mess of crawdads?

Posted by: Timr---------------------

We need somebody from Louisiana to get them, and transport them in a cooler full of ice. If they do, I can take care of the rest. If no one from Louisana is coming, I'll see what I can do. I have brother in new orleans...maybe he can hook us up, and I can arrange for them to be shipped.

Posted by: Tony Eeds---------------------

Isn't the season over in June? If someone brings them, I'll help!

Posted by: biglou---------------------

Oh my! Crawdads, crabs, tater halves and corn on the cob and an ice cold adult beverage... I believe I'd pay top dollar or help out in any way I could for a seat at that table...

Make that a LARGER tub for people who think salsa should bite a little more than ketchup Didn't you bring some of the good stuff to the Dallas SX when we hooked up down there? Good stuff Mo.

Posted by: Timr---------------------

I think the season is over in June, but I'll check with my brother today. If we can't get crawdads, we can still do shrimp & crab legs, potatoes, and corn on the cob. Yum, I love this stuff!!!

Sadly, that was not my best effort. No bite but it did have flavor. After reading Tony's grocery list I'm going to have to make sure I camp next to him! <<<<<< this guy is so cool!

Posted by: MrLuckey---------------------

Well bring it on 'Mo. I know Patman and I will be down for some really hot stuff!

Posted by: Okiewan---------------------

THAT was some good eatin' my friend... <--- head banger dude is feeling a little left-out these days. I will not use banana dude for 3 days. I will not use banana dude for 3 days. I will not use banana dude for 3 days.

Posted by: Tony Eeds---------------------

Where is motohead when you need him? He is our Louisiana connection.

BTW

I always have plenty. Y'all come on now, ya hear!

Tony

Posted by: MrLuckey---------------------

Tony, if you need grill space look me up. If things go as planned I will be bringing my big gas grill and I normally end up cooking for quite a few people. I am thinking a fajita feast might be in order one evening.

Posted by: Patman---------------------

See THIS is why I hang out with TTRGuy! If he couldn't cook I'd have to find a new friend

Posted by: Timr---------------------

Wow! Sounds like a lot of Different Feast Nights. I may just sit around and eat and drink. No wonder Patman didn't care that his bike was broken. He was too full to ride!

Posted by: Patman---------------------

Yeah that and the darn pal of TTRGuy "Jack" and Oldguy holding me down and forcing me to drink that south Canada beer

Posted by: MrLuckey---------------------

Pat - I have a couple of special culinary surprises being delivered from CA. Tri-Tip and some beans (maybe they aren't beans at all but they are definitely bean-like) that will warm even your tastebuds.

Oh, and Jack (quite a gentleman that fella) was Okies friend long before mine.

Posted by: Okiewan---------------------

When you know Jack as well as I do, you can call him Jimmy.

(thank Slo Mo for "Not Worthy Dude")

maybe we should look at having some of the meals "buffet" style. Could definitely enhance the value of the meals.

Posted by: Tony Eeds---------------------

OK G&G --

I talked with my X today, and she said she could hook me up with some boxes of ribs. She works for Six Flags and does all of their purchasing.

If y'all want to and I can get some help, I'll bring up a bunch for dinner one evening. Any takers? I'll need a head count so I can figure out how many to bring.

Tony

Posted by: Rooster---------------------

Buffet/potluck would be great. I plan on hauling in some extra grub too.

:flame: <<< Now this dude is cool!

Posted by: slo' mo---------------------

ribs one evening, fajitas the next, steak for a third. Maybe some cornish hens for some "butt chicken"? :flame: Slo' Mo salsa and Mama Lou canoles. Man, can't wait.

Posted by: Patman---------------------

RIBS?!
To start your count Tony....
People often look at me like I have three heads

Posted by: biglou---------------------

Tony-If we are doing ribs for sure let me know. I'm in, and I will bring a boatload of some killer BBQ sauce. tx246 tells me it's available down there in the big "D": Gates extra hot and Gates Original. My all-time favorites. Salivating just thinking about it!

Posted by: gnarlykaw---------------------

Ok, That's it! i have had enough! i am gonna bring the coleman 4000, :thumb: and let's just set this thing up like a chuckwagon buffet. you guys are makin me REALLY hungry, and it hasn't even started yet! i am sure with all of us going there, we could set up a really good outdoor kitchen, and if we pull or resourses together, we all could eat like royalty.

Posted by: MrLuckey---------------------

Count me in for a rib fest :thumb:

Posted by: Tony Eeds---------------------

BigLou -- Bring on the sauce Baby! :flame: I can't say these will be as good as Arthur Bryants or Gates, but they will be good.

gnarlykaw - Is the Coleman a smoker? If not had anyone close got access to a smoker? CAn we mooch one off of one of the VFDs around the track.

Posted by: Timr---------------------

Put me down for ribs too!

Posted by: trivial---------------------

You can just put me down for food in general (especially the idea of fajitas)!

Posted by: CAL---------------------

Ribs!? Me too! Me too! :thumb:

Posted by: slo' mo---------------------

I think the Heartland Spodes have a smoker on a trailer! :thumb:

Posted by: Lorin---------------------

I have a smoker that I will bring along. The Heartland spodes actually had 3 to 4 grills and smokers going the last night. We didnt want to take any food back home with us, so we cooked it all up and invited anybody within hearing distance to pull up and chow with us. It is all good. If I have it, you are welcome to use it.

Posted by: gnarlykaw---------------------

Lorin has the smoker! naw, mine is just a big ole gas grill...........

Posted by: JuliusPleaser---------------------

I was one of the lucky ones last year. I was hanging around when the HS crew started givig food away. Man, that's some good eatin'.

Posted by: thumbs---------------------

I'll be bringing the "Culinary Surprises" that Eddie speaks of from Cali. It's gonna be good.

You can count me in for any and all feast unless it includes a Boca Burger.

Posted by: MrLuckey---------------------

Heck yeah Tony, I forgot to mention that Aimee will probably be doing a boca burger w/feta and Shiitake mushroom feast if anyone is interested :flame:

Posted by: Jaybird---------------------

"Hey...I think maybe the feta is bad, this tastes like shiitake!"

Posted by: Tony Eeds---------------------

Sounds good to me .... now all we have to do is get the nights coordinated.

Posted by: JuliusPleaser---------------------

My nights are covered. I'm bringing an 8 X 10 glossy of Brooke Shields.

Posted by: Milk---------------------

By the 4th day, you will be glad its a glossy......

Posted by: Rooster---------------------

And I am setting up camp a safe distance away!

Posted by: Okiewan---------------------

And if allowed to partake of the festivities, I'll make sure to get inline BEFORE JP.

Posted by: SirReel---------------------

Looks like I missed all the good food last year. You won't be so lucky this year But, I don't want nuthin for free. I'll help with any preperation you need. Did I mention I worked my way through college by being a chef? Want 100 lbs of onions chopped in 15 minutes, no problem. Just let me know what I need to bring and consider it brought. Can also bring pots/pans, knives, etc. Just give me the word.
On a side note for you Texas folks... Does Shiner come in cans? I've only had bottles but my first choice (Newcastle) is glass only. Shiner is the only thing that comes close...

Posted by: JuliusPleaser---------------------

I'm working on a keg of Newcastle, but you'll have to bring your own picture. :thumb:

Posted by: biglou---------------------

Picture of what? ( I know what you meant. )

Posted by: Treejumper---------------------

Dont have a picture but i do have my beer stein. This is Oktoberfest, right?

Posted by: Milk---------------------

OK. So what Cali DRN'er is bringing the fish tacos? Ewwwwwwwwwww.

Posted by: thumbs---------------------

I'll be bringing beef and beef only. I like fish and I like tacos but I HATE FISH TACOS! Nasty stuff in my opinion. I would rank them next to Boca Burgers.

Posted by: a454elk---------------------

Fish tacos are distgusting!

Posted by: Tony Eeds---------------------

SirReel
Yes, Shiner Bock comes in cans .... and yes, I will have some.
Tony

I forgot to add
Ribs -- The ones from Six Flags are precooked, so all you have to do is put them on the grill to heat them up and impart that wonderful smoke flavor provided by mesquite and the Gates BBQ sauce ... or I bring the raw variety.
Any comments. Has anyone tried the ones at their local Six Flags? Now that I think of it, I imagine most places prepare the precooked variety in order to have consistency.
Also .. They come in 30 pound boxes. A box will serve 25 to 30 people would be my guess ...

Posted by: Milk---------------------

They do suck and I agree. They sounded nasty, but last time I was in Cali, a buddy took me to Huntington Beach and we ate em. Ewwwww. They were gross, but I can say I have tried them I guess.

Posted by: TwinSpar---------------------

Fish tacos prepared the correct way are great. You have to visit an authentic Mexican Seafood Restaraunt to truthfully comment on tacos del pescado. Hot sauce served oven hot and some breaded fried pickled jalapenos stuffed with shrimp is to die for.

Posted by: JuliusPleaser---------------------

<breaded fried pickled jalapenos stuffed with shrimp>

Sounds pretty tasty. Can't say the same for tacos del pescado.

Posted by: thumbs---------------------

That would Be Wahoo's. They are famous for their fish tacos and always have a line out the door.

SugarTwin is so right about this one.....There is nothing better than good, authentic Mexican Seafood. I consider Fish Tacos to be one of the world's greatest delicacies....If you have not tried them yet, you just gotta!!

GSR - Corn Beef Hash is Yummy. Now if somebody will make SOS. :thumb:
