Will 03 be as much of a runaway as 02?

I see the 250's about the same, and the 125's getting to the same point. With Reed and Langston moving up (they ain't gonna have anything for RC) who will challenge Bubba? Could it be perfect seasons in both classes?
Posted by: XRpredator---------------------
I seem to remember Travis Preston beating Bubba for the 2002 125W title . . .
Posted by: SirReel---------------------
I dunno, I think it was more like Bubba beat Bubba. Not to take anything away from Travis, but when Bubba was on 2 wheels he was/is unstoppable... inho
And do you really think Preston will have anything for him next year?

Maybe Branden Jesseman

Jesseman is great outside, don't recall him being a stand-out in SX? Preston was VERY fortunate to get his title while Stewart was learning. Lesson over.

There won't be any perfect seasons. Ferry will step up, Dave V. has shown he can beat RC straight up indoors, RC will auger it, LaRocco will win, and McGrath will (hopefully) come out swinging.
Bubba will probably win the 125(whichever), but the other 125 series will be wide open.

Jeez Pred... You haven't got any respect for RC and what he's done outdoors!
Be prepared for RC to pull off a sweep of SX. Now wouldn't that be

He WAS the only rider to beat Reed in the regular 125 East series. If Jesseman's momentum rolls over into the SX season... I think he could easily win the 125 East if Bubba stays in the 125 West.
SirReel - I think you just summed it up for us. RC and Bubba will dominate their classes. I guess the 125 division without #259 will be the only division worth watching for a little excitement  I would like to see Bubba race a few 250 races too, but not sure if it'll happen or how he will do. As with Pastrana, it took a few races to get comfortable in the 250 SX class compared to the 125's. Heck Brown was never able to figure out the 250 class - although he was full of speed in the 125's.

'03 SX/MX will be a carbon copy of the '02 National series. Hide and watch.

I respect him and what he's done, but it don't mean I have to like him. And I'm betting (hoping) that everyone else is growing weary of seeing him win everything, so they'll step up.
It happened to McGrath, it'll happen to RC.

Is there a rule to keep a 125 rider from riding east and west? I'm sure there is and it's not an intelligent question. Be kinda cool to see 259 win them both in the same year.

Yep... you could ride both East and West, as long as you don't point out in either one. I think the rule is if you score ANY points in one 125 coast, then you cannot race the other any more. It may be a certain amount of points, too (like less than 10 or something). But if it is, it is something very very low. So if Bubba wanted to race the West series for points and just ride qualifiers and sit out the mains in the East, that would be as close as he can get to riding both.
Very often you'll see 125 guys who plan to ride West and get hurt in the first 1-2 rounds and switch over to East for points (since there is big time gap to heal up before the East series starts).

My understanding of the rule is that you can olny ride the "other" series for points if you are outside the top 10 in your main series... So, I think he could ride them both, but would only get points in 1 of them...

I'm going to go out on a limb, and say that MC will have a MUCH better season, and will give RC a run. Bubba will be tough to catch, but a healthy Mike Brown could keep him honest.

How bout Lampsons now with his new ride
Posted by: marcusgunby---------------------
Im not convinced MC will get on with the new KTM-Dobb and Crockard arnt doing as well as expected on them.

yep, i read interviews with Dobb and he was very disappointed that the KTM 250 wouldnt shift! Add to that, no one has riden the 250SX at the top level in the US either. i wonder if Langston will struggle also, but he is used to KTM at least.
interesting story on a local forum, was that MC had a pretty bad wipeout this week when a dude tried to get out of his way and he had to bail....it was bad enough to bend his bars and also crack the triple clamps (you would think their top rider would get the good ones)......but he was alright afterwards, apparently when he was laying on the ground he flipped the burn to the kid that cut him up. i have heard he and langston have been testing some at elsinore recently, so i am hoping they might be out there this afternoon!

Remember... this was bubba's first year... some new kid might move up and challenge him. The 250 supercross season WILL be wide open... perfect seasons are a rarity. And you're completely forgetting the 125E

I agree that Bubba more of lost the 125W title for himself, moreso than Travis beating him. If Bubba can keep his bike up in the SX season as well as he's done in the Nat's then he'll be in a class of his own.
I think Jesseman has a good shot at the 125E title this year with Reed moving up.
As for the 250's, whew, that looks to be a good one! I wanna see what happens with Pastrana when he comes back. There is wayyyy too much talent in the 250 class for me to think of the outcome.

Dobb and Crockard aren't MC.
Posted by: marcusgunby---------------------
No they would both whip him outdoors so bad he wouldnt know which way they went.
Posted by: super rat---------------------
Your too funny marcus. Hey, why don't you tell us how much better Pichon and Dobb are now than when they were racing in the states and don't leave out the part where you tell us that Seb has gotten slower now that he over here. 9/29
Posted by: marcusgunby---------------------
Dobb got 2nd at the MXDN with a broken bike-MC couldnt get 2nd if he was towed by RC
As for seb do you think he is as fast now as he was 2 seasons ago?
Superrat in your part of the world do riders stay the same speed season after season-never having a good or bad year??-nothing stays the same, dont you adgree?
Posted by: super rat---------------------
I can't believe I'm sticking up for MC but the guy is/was a great rider and I think he put in some pretty good rides at the MXdN's when he went :silly:
I'm not as educated as you marcus but where I live the sun comes up and the sun goes down every day and the USA is still the place where the real world champs race.
This will all seem silly on 9/30

you gotta be kidding. did i not watch the same series as you?

Re: Nothing staying the same.
I look at what Sean Hamblin has accompished this year (hang'n with the big boys), and it makes you wonder if it's not all psycological for the top riders. I think a lot of them are beat by RC before they even put their helmets on. Not to take anything away from Hamblin, but he's doin the unheard of by just stepping in there like that.
Must be that experience that he gained up in Canada

It is gonna be wide open. Alot of good riders will be returning from injury. They have been injured for a while and have been on the sideline's watching RC spank everyone. They will work hard during the offseason and be back strong. Last year was Bubba's first time ever riding a supercross track and it was something completely new to him. I think for his first year of riding supercross he did pretty dang good. He is/was known for his outdoor riding ability and showed everyone what his hype was about this outdoor season. I think Bubba will do very well in supercross next year.
