Yellow Leaf HS... terrain?

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

What's the terrain usually like in and aroung Clanton, AL, site of the first SETRA HS this year? I'm trying to decide what tires I need to bring. If anyone is interested, I'll be selling Bridgestone tires and tubes at all of the SETRA HS rounds this year to help me pay for my season. If I can get you anything email or PM me and I'll get back to you.

Stumpy,

I'm a club member there. I've heard our enduro couse referred to as the 50-mile ditch; think of a U-shaped concrete ditch and you have Clanton:scream: Actually, the HS will use a fireroad or two and some freshly cut trail. I run S12s front and back and it works fine even on the hard pack. M12s back work fine as long we have had no rain at all. If it's the least bit wet then I hate the M12s at Clanton.

So what you're sayin' is, if it's dry intermediate-hard and if it's wet intermediate-soft or full soft?

Soft is the best tire always there.

S-12, S-12, S-12!!!!!!!! Soft terrain!!!

Intermediate terrain tires will put you on your butt at Clanton (speaking for myself that is). When its dry its very slick. Seems to get a layer of dust on top of things like big roots and rocks which doesn't make for good traction. When it is wet its very slick. What more can one say?

Clanton is a strange place. It's rock hard so you would think a hard pack tire would work best, but they don't. I typically never have anything on my bike but an S12 and I ride there 90% of the time. Even after a heavy rain there's really not much mud, just water flowing over concrete.
