Fork Switch Question

Is it possible to switch the forks off of an 02 CR250 to an 03 CRF450? Thanks in advance for the input,
Joe

i bet they fit, but i would expect the CRF would require stiffer valving and spring rates for the same rider so it would be a pointless operation if you are trying to take advantage of this situation.....but lets wait and see what the experts say!

Ive got a feeling the CRF forks are different length to the 250.

From what ive heard, on the 03 CRF the forks were extended to match those of the CR's

I know the outer tubes on the 02' CRF are about 7-8mm longer than the CR.

Not true on the upper tubes. They are the exact same part#. However, the lowers are different, and I would suspect that they are aliitle longer.
But if one were to order a set of Ohlins forks, they are the same fork for both the 250 and 450. I would hope that they were setup differently, but with my limited experience with Ohlins, I would suspect there are not.

I was under the impression that the forks were the same this year, but that the old CRF forks were a little shorter (10mm?)

Same forkf different spring rates and valving

Honda65, thanks for the correction. Turns out I measured them against a pre 00' CR fork, wich is indeed 8mm shoter than the 01' and later.
