KDX80 Oil Leak

My son's KDX80 (87) has an oil leak at the shifter rod exit. I am assuming this is likely an engine seal that needs to be changed. Do I need to take the lower end apart to do this or can it be done from the outside of the bike?

i believe that most shifter seals are taken from the outside i know mine is and it was farely easy to change
