Hey guys, haven't been around in a while. Anyway, I've got an '02 400s. The bike runs great, but: every now and then, I notice a lean bog. Especially when I approach a steep hill (at a rapid speed), or approaching a jump. It will simply cut out for a second, and then come back after I let off. At first I am thinking about a DynoJet Kit, but wanted to ask you guys for advise. My dealer told me to live with it, as they are really lean due to emissions. My buddy has the same bike, stock setup as well, and it runs fine. I'm about 750' above sea level. Any suggestions would greatly be appreciated!

The 400S has a CV carb so the usual fixes used by the DRZ guys with the non-CV FCR carb won't work. The Dyno Jet Carb Kit is the best approach. It includes the main jets, needle and all the misc parts you'll need plus the info to modify the CV diaphragm which really wakes up the CV carb. The kits are very complete and the directions are easy to follow. At around $50 it's cheaper and easier than trying to sort it yourself.
Hope this helps.

I know its probably a jetting problem, but I've heard some S owners complain about the safety switch on the kickstand causing the bike to "cut out"when being jarred around.

Tennessee, thanks so much. I can't believe I didn't think of that. I went out to the local sand pit and brought a bungee cord w/ me. That was it!! I took the switch (and wiring harness) totally out. Thanks again for your reply. You saved me a lot of headache.
