Pacific Crest Pipe Repair
(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

The UPS guy just dropped off my pipe after being repaired by Pacific Crest Pipe Repair (they advertise in the back of the magazines) The thing looks brand new!!! I sent it to them with multiple dents, slightly bent, and a smashed mounting tab, and this looks like I just bought it from the shop, they even buffed it up all smooth and shiny! pipe repair is $40.00 regardless of the damage, so it is a great deal considering the quality work they do. I am 110% satisfied with the work they did. HIGHLY recommended.

I'm glad to see this post, because I just sent my pipe off last weekend :thumb:

When i received my pipe back,it didnt quite line up exactly with the brackets.Of course its kind of adjustable. If you have the grey coated finish like i have(02'kx 125),they wont paint the pipe. All in all,the power feels the same so it was worth it.By the way.it costs around $18.00 to ship it each way.

My pipe is totally mangled. As in it does not even line up even close the mounting tab. The whole pipe is bent up and in. It is melting my rad shroud and the upper mounting tab is melting my tank. I am only running one heavily modified mount and I was just going to buy a whle new pipe. But this thread go me thinking. How can they get the pipe to line up with the tabs and not melt/rub anything? Do they have a bike they can use to line everything up, or do they just have jigs from FMF that they conform to?

Not sure HOW they do it, I can just say that they DO!!! Mine was bent enough so that it made the silencer rub the shock spring, and the front mounting tab was mashed flat, (pushed into the pipe) I just got it installed now and it fits like a glove. West coast shipping will be cheaper, I paid $10.00 each way.

My pipe didn't line up when I got it back but they have instructions on their web site on how to align it. However, on my very first ride, I fell over and it dented very easily where it had been repaired. You might consider getting a $40 Moose pipe guard or a used spare pipe.

thanks for the heads-up. Fortunately I run an e-line c/f pipe guard. Pipe guards dont help (as I found out) in head on impacts w/logs and stumps where it pushes the whole pipe back toward the engine, as in my case. I will keep an eye out on the "weak spots".

Since I'm sure they used a heat/air method to fix the pipes, each time its repaired the weaker the material gets in that area. I have a friend who does the same thing they do for less up this way. It just doesn't look as pretty is all.

I'm very pleased to hear this, as I'd like to get my pipe fixed. I just bought it used for $20, courtesy of KelvinKDX (and thanks to Mikeb for the installation)
It has a few dents, and this sounds like the ticket. The only problem is it has a fair amount of rust. Some where it's been scratched and dented, and spme on the part close to the cylinder. Can they get it all nice and shiney again?

Stan, I found that using a Scotch Brite pad and some WD 40 works great to get the rust off.

Or you can use a wire wheel brush attached to a power drill that worked great. I was able to get all of the rust off but it will remove anything else like paint/finishes so use caution.

I've tried scotch brite and WD-40, scotch brite and bar keeper's friend. The BKF worked best, but is no match for all the rust on the pipe. I'm afraid anything more abrasive would scratch/remove the finish, along with the rust

Maybe try some emory cloth??

Stan - remove the rust :scream: - that rust gives the pipe character!
If you remove the rust and make it all nice and shiney - well, i can not gaurantee that you will get the same performance out of her.
Once you do get the pipe cleaned up make sure that you use a light coating of WD-40 on the pipe after washing the bike.
And the dents & scratches - ah those bring back some good (and bad) memories.

Sent the pipe off today. I'm not complaining about the dents/rust, because like you said, I wouldn't have gotten such a great deal if it was in perfect shape. Thanks again, dewd :thumb:

I packing mine up and sending it out monday! In the mean time, I have to ride with the stock pipe.
Posted by: KelvinKDX---------------------
don't worry fatty_k - riding with the stock pipe is better than not riding at all.
So quit whining and ride! :flame:
Be happy that you can - i am sidelined for a while and going crazy! :whiner:

And that awesome bike just sitting there

Have I mentioned that before?
