'02 520EXC- which springs?

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Posted by: riverside---------------------

I have an '02 520 EXC and I need to make the first change of springs. I realize that the suspension cannot work correctly if it isn't in the right part of the stroke. I am at the end of where I should be for sag. I am not sure which springs come in my bike though and haven't really taken the opportunity to look. I weigh about 185 in street clothes so with a fanny pack, camelback and riding gear I am sure I am close to 200. I am a weekend warrior who rides desert and woods. I know I need heavier springs. Any guidance would be great!

Thanks,
Michael

.44 front and #7 out back set your sag to 40mm static sag (no rider).
.42/#6 is stock.

Thanks Shaggy, that is what I needed. I do have one more question for Jeremy. If I end having a revalve done I am seriously considering using MX Tech. The last revalve I had done was on my 380EXC which I had a local guy do and I came away somewhat satisfied. He had me change to a straight rate spring, this obvously would change the way the shock would be valved in my uneducated opinion. Do you stick with the progressive springs when you revalve or go to straight rate?

mx-tech uses progressive springs .

Thanks again Shaggy. Kind of what I figured. It makes more sense considering it has all been engineered that way.
