Knee Brace Advice

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

OK so the Army said I couldn't ride anymore....screw that!

I've had 9 knee dislocations and 2 arthroscopies with a third in a month. If I'm to go racing again I'll be needing knee braces (well Duh!). It's not something thats actively pushed over here, so I need your advice. What should I get, where from and how much?

Will I still be able to move over the bike with them.
I can't wear Fox's huge Freestyle knee guard because of the uncomfortable feeling of NOT being in direct & positive contact with the bike. I have been wearing their lycra armoured sleeve style MTB guards instead.
I'm a 5'10 72kg liteweight (I prefer sportie model) who races B Grade 125 , but if I get back into racing I'll be thrown in the A grade. I also pose to the crowd (hey u got to if your losing) over the triples with circus act tricks to get photos for my sponsors so I need to be able to be flexible. Will the braces reduce this much?

Fitting maybe problematic as I've been racing MTB's and BMX while young resulting in HUGE calf muscles and skinny upper legs - Cartoon style. My size 10 boots are only barely able to be done up at the top yet the ankles are still loose!!?!

Any help is appreciated by me but not my Wife who is dusting off the Med kit as we speak.

Check out Asterisk braces, to the left of your screen, many DRN members like them alot, including myself. Great product, great service, great people. :thumb:

Check the DRN Tested pages for reviews.

If customer service means anything to you, Asterisk is the only way to go, not to mention that the brace is awesome.

Asterisks are great had a set but for the best protection and fit my cti-2,s are less bulky, better fit ,more durable, and don,t wreck the bike as bad but are pricey.

but for the best protection

That's just wrong. Sorry. What did you pay for those?

I agree with the Asterix, just be awair they will take a few hours to get really used to them. You will not have that skin to bike contact you mentioned, but be patient and you will adjust. If not, Astrerix will refund your money!

I can do without the skin-to-bike feel....and I kinda enjoy the lack of the kneecap-to-ground feel as well.

Cells...they do a body good! (wait, is that taken?)
