Has anyone ridden a XR400 and YZ250F? (not at the same time) :silly: I would like to hear how the power compares between each of them. [power delivery, top speed, and low end characteristics] A WR250F could also be used in comparison. Thanks

If have ridden both a great deal and the YZ is drastically preferred for MX and I like it better in the woods too. The XR feels big, heavy and sluggish compare to the YZ.

Right on the money Mike!!

I made the mistake of riding one of my friends brand new XR 400 at the local motocross track. I hated it. I wanted back on my YZ pronto! True, I didn't have to use any clutch in the corners, but acceleration on the XR is downright sluggish compared to the YZ. Suspension sucks for motocross too. Just my thoughts!

My XR wasn't sluggish compared to the YZ250F. The XR seemed to have way more bottom end power but the 250F had more on top and revved out a lot farther. My XR compared favorably to my brothers 400SX as far as bottom end through mid power goes. The 400sx also revs out much further than the XR.

I agree though that the XR is too heavy and severely undersuspended. It is easy to maintain and you can get them cheap.

If I were choosing between the two, I'd go with the YZf
