I ride MX and trails and am considering getting one of the above. I think I got a good deal lined up on a 02 RM 250, $3,500 and they will deliver. I have been looking for a newer CR, I have heard they are very reliable. Any comments on the 02 RM 250.

It will be reliable if maintained, and it has a better motor than the new CR. The RM is great for supercross tracks and tracks that are tight. In open stuff, the CR would be better because it is less twitchy.

the 02 rm 250 was rated very highly by motorcycledaily.com
they said the power was awesome. The review is still posted on their site.

It all boils down to you, some people like honda some people like suzuki both are great bikes $3500. sounds good for a 02.but a bike is only as good as it was took care of.

I think I can get them down to $3,000 and they will ship it to me. it s a F&S team bike, I asume it is very well maintaned but has been riden alot.

ERICK i saw the rm looks like a very sweet bike! i saw a note they will take $3000. looks like they are ready to sell . happy shopping

You can probably expect to put a piston/rings in it. I had a 99 and a friend got a 00 from there and both needed top ends. Other than that, I had no problems with the bike, especially for the price.

Ya I got it for $3,000 and they are shipping for free, sweet. It is number 600 over on cycle trader, it has alot of after martket guards and stuff on it. If I don't like it I know I can resale it for what I got in it where I live. Heck the local dealer wants $3,200 for a "99".

Seth I figured a top-end at the least, I was also thinking wheel barings, break pads, back tire, swingarm pivet barings, and possibly a clutch, but at that price heck it is still worth it. And I got all winter to do it.

Erick-
After you do what you're talking about doing, you'll have 1 sweet ride! Might want to check the fork fluid, too.

we got my son's bike from F&S and it was great. Both of us have the 01 model and we really like them. The 02 had a couple of things tuned better from what I've read. They are great on the MX track and trails. Twitchy is right when it comes to rough long tracks but I raised the forks to 5mm in the clamps and it handles great. Watch your power valve, my got a lot of buildup and needed to be cleaned a little more often. Other than that, the bike has run great, enjoy. The guys at F&S rock and I'll be buying another bike from them in the near future.

You should also ask Elk about his super-secret and sano kittylitter mod! I hear it makes the RM's really purr.
Posted by: a454elk---------------------
It's cheaper than a porting job and gets you twice the power.

Elk, I think I made a wise choice. I am buying the bike unseen and I am glad to here from someone else that has purchased a bike there. Did you leave the F&S decals on or remove? They look like they could be hard to get off. Kitty-litter ?
Posted by: a454elk---------------------
The decals that they put on were from there racing team and my son liked them. They even sent a new version of the entire kit with a seat cover as well. We've had nothing but great luck dealing with F&S, I don't think you'll be disappointed. We bought one and my son's friend bought another one, and I'll be getting another one in a couple of years from them.
Kitty litter, well, do a search for kitty litter and see what comes up. If you can't find it, I'll point the way.
