Enduro Wear - Get It or Not ?

Just bought new bike and anticipate doing some Enduros/HS rides next year and have yet to buy riding gear. In my youth I raced MX and used that gear. Does it make sense to get MX gear for enduro or HS races or get jackets/pants etc. specifically designed for these events. Any suggestions (brands, sources) would be really appreciated as I'm re-entering the sport following a 20 year absence and I realize that materials and products have changed dramatically. THANKS

I'm not sure what the climate is when your races are scheduled but most riders I know just use MX pants/jersey/chest protector and a drink system. A fanny pack or tool kit of some sort is handy too. If it gets rainy a nice Gortex jacket comes in handy. Most events cause the rider to get quite warm with body heat and heavy pants/jackets get peeled off ASAP. Generally if the weather is below 50 degrees I wear a jacket other wise a jersey with maybe a T shirt underneath works for me. When its hot out I wear the lightes weight jersey I can find.

I am fairly new to it myself. You will look like a fully armed mx'er with a fanny pack and drink system on your back. There are so many items out there. You could actually spend a whole college fund getting started if you wanted. Just remember though, safety has no cost. I just have the bare minimum like: pants, jersey, boots, socks, chest protector, knee pads, gloves,
goggles, fanny (tool) pack, drink system, and most important...helmet. I would recommend a good set of knee braces/pads if the wallet can handle it.
I got the cheap ones right now, but looking into better ones. Hey, I wonder if they make full body armor?? Glad to see you getting back into it. Best of luck to ya.

When you're packing tools, be safe about it. A screwdriver in a fanny pack turns into a gut driver in a crash if you're not careful about packing tools correctly.
I mainly carry tools in my hydration pack where there's a lot of padding.
