My wife Laurie is planing on going sking on Sauturday. She has done checking around and the Peppermill and Atlantis have a shuttle that stops by both casinos to take skiers to Squaw Valley for skiing.
Just thought I'd pass on this info.....

See what marriage will do to ya! Only kidding Rick, Are you riding with us on Friday then? OR does your post mean you are riding on Saturday, while the wife skis?

I think Julie will be hitting the slopes as well. It's much cheaper than hitting the Blackjack table all day.

Don't EVEN go there!!

Where's the good skiing near Reno? If Dave and I can make it out, we're going to come out early and get a couple days (Thurs, Fri) skiing in before the Moonrocks ride.
I'm an intermediate, and Dave's an advanced/expert skier. We know about the touristy areas of Heavenly & Squaw Valley, but would love some "local" highlights.

There are more ski resorts within 60 miles of Reno, than anywhere in the US. I am going to have ask my wife and post back with her favorites. She is an avid skier and raced in high school and beyond. I like Northstar, Alpine Meadows, and Kirkwood. Close by are Mt. Rose, and Diamond Peak, Boreal (within 40 minutes of the Peppermill)

Hi Lori, while there are many resorts near Reno they are not all that easy to get to. I would suggest you look into three in particular. Sugar Bowl, a very nice place with several high speed quad lifts. Squaw Valley, many people feel this place offers some of the best skiing in the world, if you haven't been, you and your husband may like to check it out. And Alpine meadows, which is right next to Squaw, very popular amongst the locals.
These three places are probaby the closest and easiest to get to from Reno. They are all very close to each other in fact, just up I80 near Trukee.
I think it is a good idea to ski th, fri as oposed to the weekend as presidents day is the busiest weekend of the year. Have fun, hope there is plenty of powder for you.

The skiing is incredible right now, and should be all the way through V.D., given the amount of snow we have and continue to get.
