I know we have done the weird eating habits but what is the food item that you eat more than any other, be it a compleat meal or for a snack.

For me it has to be a foot long Roast Beast Sammich. I don't care if it's from Subway, Blimpie, East Coast Subs, Quizno's or Arizona Jacks, if it's a sub I'll eat it!

In Germany it was an authentic Turkish/Greek Kabib(SP), Lamb or pork(Depending on the religion of the vendor) in pita bread with vegies and mayo with spices, usually with a shot of Samboka while you wait. I miss Europa!

Pure Grade 'A' Light Amber Maple Syrup. I could live on the stuff. I put it on just about any kind of flour derived food - pancakes, waffles, biscuits, bread, etc etc. It's also awesome on vanilla ice cream! Once in a while I'll even pour some onto a spoon and eat it straight up! I guess it's from my childhood spent in the northeast. I've got syrup in my blood.

Food: Anything that ain't still movin'
Drink: I'm getting awfully fond of Bass beer! but when I'm at home I'm most always drinking a Coke. When I ride, water and at work, coffee or capaccino.

Well, you didn't ask about drinks but there it is anyway.

I don't even care if it IS still moving.

My favortie is Filet Mignon (sans bacon wrap), sauted mushrooms and garlic/herb potato souffle, followed with a raspberry sorbet.

And when I am living in the real world (about 350 days a year) and can't afford such a wonderful meal, meatloaf is THE ultimate food. Recipe variations are limitless and the stuff can be served in a multitude of different ways. Hot, cold, as a sammich, with mashed taters, smothered with gravy.............mmmmmm meatloaf!

I knew it! Your chili is so bad it doesn't even make your favorite food list.

I have to go with anything hot from peppers and/or seasonings! The hotter, the better! #1 has to be Chili prepped correctly.... with beans!!!!!

Posted by: Tony Eeds---------------------

Patman - At least he doesn't eat it over spaghetti like they do in Cinci.

Posted by: WoodsRider---------------------

Coho salmon smoked over alder chips. Boiled Alaskan King Crab. Pan fried brook trout. Crawfish etoufee. Shrimp gumbo. Deep fried turkey. Pan fried oysters. Tex-Mex... dang I'm hungry.

Have to agree with you on all points here. Homemade chili and stew are also in the running.

Tony, is "CFS" Chicken Fried Steak? I'm not with the Texas Lingo.

My favorite foods are many and varied, but I'm partial to Chinese Food.

Actually my deep fried turkey is SO good it just moves my REAL Chili down the list. You wouldn't know about either one though since you never stick around for the Mod. dinner at DW nor know BEANS about chili! It's getting cool out side so it may be time for me to make a batch in the iron pot that I'll stir with a wooden spoon (that will stand up in said chili) using REAL chili fixins of MEAT, spices, more MEAT, more spices, some tomato sauce and more MEAT and spices! You, Speedy & Martha Stewart can make all the foo-foo vegitable soup you want.

YES MAAM

Mary's in Strawn and The Ranchman Cafe in Ponder are two of the best.

CFS with a big ol' mess of fries, cream gravy, salad with blue cheese dressing, fresh rolls, and all the sweet tea you can drink (before 5) or a couple of Shiner Bocks (after 5 or anytime on Saturday). Follow that with a piece (or two) of Buttermilk Pie.

That, my dear, is one heaven of a meal!

Darn, now I'm hungry. :thumb: Why is it the things that taste best are always the worst for you?

They give you a punch card and after your tenth meal you get a free angioplasty job over at Doc's. :scream:

Posted by: Tony Eeds---------------------

The bad part is, Mary's will only be 20 minutes away, if I buy some land I am looking at in West Texas. Darn the luck!
A track in my front yard, woods behind, Mary's 20 minutes away, a few cabins for visitors to stay a spell .... sounds like heaven to me.

Posted by: MONKEYMOUSE---------------------

Fave drink: hot choclate! I must have it EVERY morning or the rest of the day just dosent seem rite.

When he posted that the first thing that came to mind was fresh Maine Lobster, Steamed Clams, grilled Sword Fish, Broiled Scallops, all of the above with Baked Potato, Sour Cream, Cole Slaw and plenty of real Butter! Not to mention a nice frosty local Mini Brew to wash it down!

Posted by: yz250roost---------------------

Now this is my kind of post....I work in the meat department as a seafood manager, so I know the best of both worlds seafood and beef/pork/chicken/veal/lamb. And those of you who answered filet mignon (aka beef tenderloin) answered correctly. (even though my favorite is chicken cordon bleu) As far as seafood goes you can't beat a good halibut fillet either grilled or fried, same goes with scallops wrapped in bacon on the grill (next to the bacon wrapped fillet mignon) mmmmmmm. I'm hungry all 8 hours of my work day.

<-- Look where I'm from.... and I'll tell you what, chili isn't chili unless it's got spaghetti under it! My parents are from Wisconsin and usually have rice with it... but I cook up a pot of spaghetti for it. A 5-way from Skyline Chili is THE best food there is.

Andy, I have eaten Skyline Chili, but the CHILI Patman is talking about is an altogether different animal. Skyline is good but is really more like a different set of spices in tomato sauce. Not that that is bad, it is just different.

I suspect that spaghetti or rice would undergo spontanious combustion, if Texas Chili were poured over it.

There is some debate about allowing beans in chili in Texas. Real Texas chili cooks use the beans kinda like that first kernel of popping corn in hot oil. If the bean explodes, it is almost hot (with spices) enough to serve. You only need a couple of beans for the process. We are also careful when dropping our cracker crumbs or cornbread droppings in the bottom of the almost empty bowl to get out those last little smiggins. You know it was good when they sizzle.

Posted by: IrishEKU---------------------

AMEN!!! :flame:

It's hotter down there! I fooled around with the Three Alarm mix but nothing comes close to what they throw togeather! :scream:

Posted by: n8MX---------------------

Bean-popping spices!? I better stay away... my head might act like a big bean. Yep... I guess it's hot enough!!

Would that reason be perhaps to cool the ring of fire that usually occurs after eating spicy chili?

I'll put some photos up this evening, it wasn't really cold out but it did dip into the 60's so I called it close enough.

Eddie, I think it's more like this:

Posted by: Patman---------------------

OK first you get MEAT and cut it into chunks. Put the chunks-o-meat into a CAST IRON pot and brown it. Stir using a wooden spoon.

Posted by: Patman---------------------

At this point TwinSpork & Speedy would quit and add BEANS?! (yick!)

Posted by: IrishEKU---------------------

What next? I am sharpening the knives! :thumb:

Posted by: Patman---------------------

This is where it starts to turn into REAL chili (take notes TwinSpork & Speedy).

Pantless Wonder you obviously forgot about this post.....Yum .....Yum! :thumb:

Posted by: Patman---------------------

You know it's ready when the spoon will stand up but not burst into flames!

Posted by: Patman---------------------

So now what have we learned (besides the fact that girls don't know how to make chili i.e. Twinkerbell & Speedy)?

1. Use cast iron pot, it will be the only thing that can contain this REAL chili.

2. Usa a wooden spoon, plastic will end up becoming part of the chili and metal may very well melt but if it doesn't it WILL burn your hand.

For you less committed folks Carroll Shelby can get you pretty darn close if you don't know where to start or lack the secret to Patman's XXX Special Texas Chili. Don't mess with that Wimp Flowers 3 Bell stuff it's just like making a mess of some good meat.
