1995 KDX 200 Engine Noise

The engine in my KDX is very noisy,it makes a knocking sound like the old air cooled bikes did. There is no excessive vibration and If I remember correctly my 1990 DX was loud too. Should I be concerned or are they simply loud.

Yes, the kinda sound like a deisel when idling.... and at lower rpms. It's just the way it is. I used to use a full quart of tranny oil, and it does help a bit but thier still noisy.

Full synthetic oil seems to help. I switched to Castrol Syntek 5W50 (no Energy Conserving seal) and it ran much more quietly. I also overfilled it just a tad.

Thanks for the info, the last thing I wanted to do was a bottom-end.
