CRF450 Head shake??

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

I have new CRF450, I have the fork tubes lowered all the way in the triple clamps, yet I still seem to get a lot of head shake? Any one else having this issue? If not, how can I cure it?

By the way, the big ROCKS! It is so much fun to ride! I have been riding it just about every weekend! Not too bad for December in Montana!

What is the rear sag set to?

I think that you can tune your suspension to minimize your headshake. Make sure your sag is set properly as was already suggested. You could also try adjusting your compression and rebound to minimize headshake. Softening the compression will absorb the harshness better, or you might slow down your rebound so that it skims over the gound better. Anything you do will effect another aspect of riding, like cornering, so adjust by one click increments. The 03 was designed to corner better than the 02, however, the change made a little sacrifice to handling performance at high speeds. You might also give yourself a little more sag.

Double check that the Compression and Rebound clickers are set the same on both fork tubes. Having them set differently can produce some interesting, and scary, riding experiences.

Well, mine never shook stock, but now it has a GPR damper and the forks slid up 1/4" from the line!?! It doesn't shake and turns on a dime!

In addition to the excellent advice above try this:
If it shakes on acceleration try turning out the compression dampening, less dampening (make it softer by turning the compression adjuster out two turns at a time). If it shakes on deceleration then you will want to give it some additional compression dampening by turning the compression adjuster in a few turns (two at a time is a good rule).

will raising my fork tubes change the rear shock sag? its at 105mm right now.

it could in theory as the weight bias will change-in reality i bet any difference will be very small.
