I just installed the Stroker shift kit in my KLX 300. The instructions were(to say the least) sketchy at best.
If anyone needs help let me know. Will try it out tomorrow & let you know how it works if anyone is interested. :thumb:

where on earth did you find a stroker shift star kit? they went out of business if I'm not mistaken..

I did it e-Bay.
You would be surprised at what you can find there. :thumb:

Does the shift star work well? I just got my 300 a couple of months ago and when it pops out of second its very annoying and it happens often.

It works great! Only ridden once since, but the whole time, it never jumped out of second even once.
I also noticed neutral is much much easier to find. :thumb: I really couldn't notice any difference in the shifts as far as being firmer. Done any other mods to your bike? All I've done is removed the restricter plate and man what a difference. Just doing this adds 5 hp to your bike.

Just something you guys might want to consider, is to take it back to the dealer and mention it to the mechanic. My dealer covered it under warranty for me, and used the stroker mod. It sure does make a difference. But the mechanic also rides a KLX and is more than aware of the problem.

I bought an '02 KLX 300R in Sept., and read that removing the restrictor plate improves power. I removed the allen bolts but can't figure out how the plate comes out. Help!

Mark, the plate is the round plate with a small tube running through it, (about the size of your little finger). It should fall off with the screws removed. When removed it adds about 5 hp to your bike. Are you sure it hasn't already been removed?

Can I just take the plate off or does it mess up the mixture? (Just got an 02 KLX300 Saturday and lovin it.)

Have had mine off for 2 months with no ill effects.
You can really tell the difference too! :thumb:
