Its been a while and I just wanted to see if anyone has a Yamaha DT or MX 175 yet.

Not yet man, but I'm still savin' up.

I just bought and rebuilt an 81 IT175. Great bike stock. Looking for a DG pipe.

I've owned my 81 MX175 for 5 years now. She's shifting hard now and it looks like I need new shifting forks at best. Right now I'm looking for a MX/DT125 and up so I can get the whole tranny and maybe for a spare bike (untill the tranny finally breaks then it will be a parts bike. I don't plan on ever selling my bike because A) I put a lot of work into making it as fast as it is and B) because I won't ever get the money I want for it.

I got three '78 dt175's, one in good shape, and two for parts. Up until a couple weeks ago, I was going to sell them for $250, but now that I got it running better, I'm keepin' em. They're too much fun.

Not a 175, but I have a 72 DT250. It runs, but it needs some work. As soon as I get some time or money, I'll start messing around with it.

I dont have a DT175, but I do have a 1983 DT125...its a great and fun bike

I own a 1975 DT175 in very clean condition. I am repairing an ignition problem. After sitting all winter I opened the flywheel cover and a cup of gas poured out. (dont know how thtat got there. There is no juice to the points. So I need to check the magneto.
Any tips on this problem is apprciated.
Thanks
Mike

wow, this is an old thread. i can't answer any questions but i just wanted the record to show that i do own a 73 at 125.

Posted by: fretslider51---------------------

hmm...I thought I was the only one that still owned these bikes. I have '75 DT175 and a '76 DT250. They are both dogs in their old age. Anybody have some advice on getting the pep back into them?

I just bought an MX175 for my daughter. It runs but needs a top end. Seems pretty fast too, even with the slop and rattle. It does rev out like an MX though, like the flywheel is light. Does anyone know if a DT rotor is heavier, and might tune it down some for her?

Stuck float valv e and leaky crank seal could get you there mate!! The crankcase fills up with gas and into the mag area..
This could also help explain some ignition probs too - bad crank bearings make it impossible to maintain points gap..

i have a 1980 it 175g and i love it.

i own a 1980 DT175G and i love it... its a really great bike and always runs great, starts right up almost every time

My son was given his first dirt bike recently. It is a 1976 DT 125 Yamaha endouro . It hasn't run in 5 years so the catch is for me to get it running for him. I pulled the magneto housing off and it was full of fuel. The points and condensor were badly rusted yet it had weak spark . I changed them and now I have no spark. Aswell , the carb is flooding the cylinder. Can anyone help me with this piece of iron?

Keeping the thread alive. Proud owner of a DT-175. Bought new in '78. Been with me ever since. We've both been through quite a bit.
