Hello, on my crf 230 I was wondering if it would hurt anything to take the silencer and spark arrester out, some people say that it will cook my vaulves, others say it would be fine. Please tell me what you all think. thanx-Tim

What is it you hope to accomplish by doing this other than pissing off everyone in your riding area?

It doesnt make it that much louder, And I would think it would give me some more power..? Im new to to riding and dirt bikes, im just tryin to learn stuff.

Ok, I just read the ama Bill Darts Pipes thread. And I think that its a good idea to not take the silencer out, so never mind. Do any of you guys know what else I could do to get more power from my stock bike, that doesnt make to much noise? I havent seen any after market parts for crf 230. Would making holes in the air box help maybe? Or even jetting the card???

I mean jetting the carb*

I think Big Gun has an exhaust pipe.

Get a UNI filter with the High-Flow Cage (without the wire screen) and grind down the welds on the inside of your headpipe(s) right where they come out of the cylinder. But be careful not to take too much material off (leave a little for strength and sealing) but the welds are usually massive! Both of those things + rejetting your carb for them (richer) will improve performance for low cost. $30 for the filter, Some money and time for jets, and FREE for the headpipe. And the best part is that this really won't increase the sound any.

What about the BBR air filter? What can I expect to gain from that with my CRF 150? Is 1/2 hp dreaming?
