Wheelie Traction in Sandy Soil

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

How do you get traction on sandy, often wet, soil? I mean like drop the clutch and instand wheelie no questions asked? I've got a half-worn out Dunlop D756 on my bike right now, but nobody else where I ride seems to hook up really well either, so I wonder if no tire can hook up on the stuff. Is it worth getting a new tire?

New dunlop 752 wide as will fit your bike. Low air pressure like around 10-12 max ( if that is all you ride on). Search for riding tips in other forums, there is one for riding techniques somewhere. 756 is an intermediate tire.

Try the Michelin S12 tires; they're made for what you describe.

...and they last MUCH longer. I got 2 enduros max out of 756, I've got 3 plust 4 long riding days on the S12 and still haven't flipped it. I'll never go back to dunlop.

I agree the S12 last much longer (been using them for 2 years now) but I dont think they work as well in "sand" as they do in very soft muddy dark soil. I ride in Illinois where there is a mix of sand and good dark stuff, the S12 is the best. If I rode only in sand I would go with the 752 not the 756.

Try the new Dunlop 773. It works great for me in sand. Our local shop can't keep them in stock because they sell so fast.
