Can anyone explain why it is a bad idea to run 2 stroke race gas (like VP C-12) in a 4 stroke? Please post back, I have a coffee riding on this,,,

As far as I know race gas is race gas. As long as there is no premix in the fuel. Theres no difference. VP offers 4stroke specific fuel w/special additives that are designed to help performance of fourstroke motors, but standard race gas is not peticular to motor design. Race cars used to get the same fuel for them that I used for my YZ125. No difference far as I know. Enjoy your coffee

Well, not anyone with a clue
, because C12 is A) not a two-stroke specific fuel, and B) an EXCELLENT choice for most current four-strokes.

When I mix up a new tank of fuel with a different ratio, different premix or different race fuel/pump fuel mixture, I occasionally drain the tank on my KTM, and pour the remainder of the old tank into my wife and kids TTR's. They seem to run fine with a little race gas and premix. I dont do this as a regular course of refueling, but I dont want to waste the fuel.

My push mower ran all last season on Amoco premium and Yamalube 2R at 32:1 with no troubles. I did have a little off-idle stumble exiting the corners though...
