Clutch Fade

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

I was reading the thread on the clutch problems w/the YZF450 and BSwift posted that Yamaha was saying to shorten the actuator arm to increase the lever throw. Now to the root of the question. I believe that my CRF doesn't have enough throw in the clutch lever. I had recently installed an ARC lever w/ the adjustable throw and discovered that w/more throw my clutch fade problem was minimal. I keep my free play pretty small so I don't believe I have to much play. The question I have then is that if I shortened my actuator arm on my CRF would that increase the throw on my bike as well?

It would, but you are just making up for the ARC lever-go back to std throw is the answer im afraid-when you get a light clutch by altering the ratio you have to give up something in return-in this case clearance when the lever is fully in.

I follow you marcus, but I was getting more throw from the ARC lever not shortening it and the fade got better than when I had the std lever. It seems like the std. lever is too close to the grip for me. I could use the ARC lever again, but it sits loose in the quick adjust perch I have.

Sorry i get it now-the std setup doesnt allow it to clear well-yep i would modify it in that case.

That should be "decrease" clutch throw.
