Ok well its time for a new bike I found a dealer near my house with a slighty used 02 125 sx it was used by ktm for advertising or something. he wants 3700 OTD the bike is completly stock I was wondering how the bikes suspension motor and all that is i have heard they have GREAT motors and so so suspension. the dealer said he will help me with susp for free that includes putting in softer springs which ill prob need im 6'0 135 lbs and have been riding for several years but will start racing 125 beg class soon

You shouldn't have to do anything to the bike just ride it stock the suspenion is good stock its just not outstanding in anyone area but it doesn't do anything truely bad. My bud has one and races 125 jr on it. The only change he's made to it is some how he got an orange tank for it like the '03's ( I never did ask how) and he put on 18 mm clamps cause he was to used to his CR 125. I don't think it really needs it though. The ktm might feel alittle wierd to ya at first if your more use to a japanese bike but it go's away fast. Other wise if your just gonna race 125 beg on it don't worry about the suspenion its more then capable in the 125 beg class especially at your weight. I weigh the same and I didn't have any real complaints about it I'm sure it could of been better but I've only ridden his ktm a few times and since I got a 250F now I was thrown off alittle bit cause i've gotten use to my 250F. If there was anything I didn't like about it was the seat foam is alittle to hard for my tastes nothing an SDG seat couldn't fix. Other wise its an excellent bike one of the best choices for a 125 raceable right out of the crate and more then ready to take you to a win in the 125 beg class it should give you some good holeshots too unless someone like me beats ya to it on a 250F

I personally beleive that the suspension needs a revalve. I found it very harsh.

Last year I took some laps on the '02 at a local track at a test ride day and found the motor to be sweet for fast guys and the suspension to be so-so for me.
There wasn't much bottom end power, and you definately needed to clutch it through turns. But once you got the power into the midrange - that thing would wheelie up hills in 3rd gear and then keep revvin, pullin, and making power. Very very strong mid-and-up motor.
The suspension was a little harsh for me, too (especially compared to the '02 KX 125 I also rode that day). I'm 5'5" 130 lbs. It was fairly bouncy through the whoops and I had a hard time cornering on it. Plus the whole ride set up and feel of the bike (like gripping it with my knees and sliding around into turns and on jumps...) was very different than the Jap feel that I'm used to.

Oh by the way, I find everything else about the bike to be great. Looks, fit and finish, awesome motor, etc.
I didn't notice any querky handling traits, but that may be just me.

The KTM 125's have always appealed to me and the only thing that
held me back was the fact that the parts would cost more then a jap bike.

The reason for this is you often have to buy genuine KTM parts as there aren't copy parts available like there are for Jap bikes. Compare genuine jap bike parts with genuine KTM parts and there is very little difference. Although more companies are making replacement KTM parts so it should get better.
