Dinner get togethers

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Posted by: Strick---------------------

I have a line on a restaurant with a banquet room that can seat up to 70. The cuisine would be mini buffet style, with tri tip, chicken breast, veggies, salad, etc.

$14 /head, which includes gratuity. AND YES they have a bar at our disposal.

Also, if this is a go - what night?

Finally if we want 2 nights let me know and I will try to track down a Mexican joint that can handle us.

Thanks -- the date is drawing near!

Strick

Posted by: SirThumper---------------------

I'd say Saturday night on the mini buffet deal. Sometime during that weekend I am going to hit that steak house again for sure. I'm not sure if it was the steak or that giant Margarita, but it sure was good.

Posted by: JWW---------------------

Saturday would be fine with me. Mark me down  for 2.

Posted by: KiwiBird---------------------

Saturday - put me down for one please.

Posted by: Farmer John---------------------

Put me down for 1 on Saturday.

Posted by: Tee---------------------

How about we do Mexican on Friday again?

Posted by: Strick---------------------

Mexican sounds good to me on Friday. If everyone is up for it. I am pretty sure I can arrange a Mexican place for Friday.

It sure helps that I insure over 100 restaurants in Reno, huh?

Posted by: GETMETOCA---------------------

Strick, you're awesome for handling all the details! Mexican Friday, mini-buffet Saturday works for me. Thanks.

Posted by: desert_racer---------------------

I'm with Tee. Mexican sounds good for Friday night...that way I can gas you guys off the trail on Sat..... :flame:

Posted by: FireLily---------------------

Buddy and I want to join Mexican dinner on Friday and mini buffet on Saturday.
Thank you, Strick!
Mini

Posted by: MrLuckey---------------------

We're up for Mexican also Strick -

1 thing this year, if you don't reserve a spot for the head count prior to Strick making the accomodations - don't plan on showing up and taking MY freaking seats again this year! That was total BS by some folks.

Posted by: desert_racer---------------------

I agree. I think that the main table spots should be reserved for those who RSVP.

Posted by: fremontguy---------------------

2 for Saturday buffet and 2 for Friday south of the border cuisine. Thanks.

Posted by: JWW---------------------

2 for mexican and 2 for the buffet.

Posted by: biglou---------------------

Yeah, I'm in for Mexican, too. Wherever the food is, count Lou in!

Posted by: Farmer John---------------------

If there is not enough room, I'll take Eddie's seat.

Posted by: Pvt Joker---------------------

So who goes hungry on Friday? lol

Posted by: Strick---------------------

Friday 50(?)
Saturday 44(?)

I will now check on the Mexican details. I know I have a place that will take us, I just need to know how much and if we order from the menu, or if he is setting up a buffet for us. His buffets are terrific. Maybe the best (hottest) pico de gallo this side of San Diego.

Saturday will be $14.00 per head including tip. Bar extra

Posted by: HARDKOREKELLY---------------------

count me in for both Friday and Saturday, I'm sure Angry Jim and Angry Jims brother will be in too.

Posted by: Strick---------------------

O.K. I have the Mexican place arranged. La Pinata

All you can eat buffet $14/person includes soft drinks and gratuity, kids 10 and under $7. Large bar/lounge area, where adult beverages will be extra.

I set dinner at 7:30, because we never seem to leave Moonrocks before 5pm. I hope this if fine with all.

I initially set the number at 60, so at some point in the future I will have to set a cut-off date. Keep in mind this is Valentine's Day, so the owner wants a firm commitment. He is a Great Guy though.

Posted by: D36-108A---------------------

I'm in for dinner both nights.

Posted by: thumbs---------------------

Kids get half off adult beverages. Sweet, who's kid can I send to get my drinks?

Posted by: FireLily---------------------

Please count Randy and Susan for both Friday and Saturday dinner.
They are in Mexico right now and asked me to book the dinners.
Thank you.
Mini

Posted by: dirtjunkie---------------------

Hey strick can put dirtjunkie + one for the buffet. Also for the Mexican dinner too.

Posted by: Strick---------------------

Just keep posting the confirmations and I will get it done. I will post the cut off day for dinner reservations as the event gets closer.

Posted by: phirechick---------------------

Strick,
Count us for two dinners both nights. Hopefully this will not be the same weekend I go in for knee surgery. I've been looking forward to this for so long. Shouldn't have done the Hangover race!!! I'll keep you informed.

If I recall correctly, you at least got to sit in the same general vicinity as everyone else. I, on the other hand, was stuck way out in the manger & had to put up with drunken dirtbikers passing by, trying to scare the p*ss out of me at my first DRN appearance. My therapist says you have to make others uncomfortable to hide your own insecurities, "pee wee".

Strick, put me down for 0 on Fri, and a tentative 0 on Sat. I'll confirm that with you on Sun.

Posted by: mxbundy---------------------

Mxbundy and wife for both nights please!

Posted by: Strick---------------------

Zio are you REALLY going to buy everyone dinner on Friday, or is that just a rumour?

Hey Bundy - the wife is actually coming to Reno to associate with all the computer geeks? Very Cool!

Posted by: zio---------------------

Yup, I'm buying. Tell everyone to leave their wallets in their hotel room, and buy lots and lots of drinks. I may be a few minutes late, but don't let that stop you from running up a huge tab. I'm good for it

Posted by: prenticefish---------------------

Strick: Please add Prentice, Christie, and Maggie for both nights. Thank you.

Posted by: Strick---------------------

Man, this is going to be big!

Nah, we got stuck in a completely different room towards the back!

Posted by: angry jim---------------------

Worse yet, TTR guy got stuck with me and thumbs at his table!

Posted by: RetSenior---------------------

Strick...please put me down for 1 on Friday and 1 on Saturday...Thanks, George

Posted by: E-Ticket---------------------

HOWdy Strick!!

FireLily already responded for us (we were down in Mexico...thanks, Mini!).

But here is your "ofishul" confirmation:

Add two (Randy Burress/E-Ticket and Susan Post/The Ant) for both Friday and Saturday dinners. Locations, food, and price all sound just fine.

Thanks, dude!! - RandyB.

Posted by: CJ Rider---------------------

Please add David Maas for both the Friday night and Saturday night dinners. He's an friend of Will and mine who's been trying to post here, but having trouble with his DRN login so he asked me to post for him. I think his AKA will be 3Banger (for his fav Triumph Speed Triple). If he still can't post by tomorrow, I'll go ahead and post all his contact infor in the "Attendence" thread too. Actually, I think it's kinda funny that a guy who can completely rebuild an entire Triumph Speed Triple basically from scratch can't figure out how to post on DRN; LOL (Just teasing, David)!!!

Posted by: Pegasus---------------------

Hi Strick..
Please add two more.. Mary and Evan ... riding budies of ours... Fri & Sat Thanks!

Posted by: Strick---------------------

Very cool - will do.

Posted by: little_thumper---------------------

Strick, put me down for both nights please.

Posted by: Dirty Dave---------------------

:flame: Hey! Everyone going to Friday night's Mexican buffett! Let TTR Guy know how you feel about the Grab Bag thread in this sub forum. He's trying to add to the festivities but only 10 of 50+ who say they are coming have said (yes) or (no) to the idea! Show him some love y'all... :thumb:

Posted by: Strick---------------------

O.K. Here is the scoop I have tenatively confirmed 60 for both nights. There is around 70 confirmed for Friday and a few less for Saturday. The dilemma is that is I confirm 70 or more on Friday we have to commit to it because the restaurant must reserve an adjacent room for us. He can take as many as 100 in both rooms, but must have a commitment for 70 to give us both. That means if only 60 show and I reserve 70, then we will each need to pay $14 + and additional ~$2.50 each. Since he has a buffet (Friday) he will take from 70 - 100 if I confirm 70.

The same basic premise holds trure on Saturday, but he is flexible +/- 5 people.

I need to draw a line in the sand by the 10th.

I need YOUR feedback thanks.

Posted by: desert_racer---------------------

I don't mind paying an extra 2 or 3 bucks if it means we are sure to have enough room. But that's just me. I can go either way.

Posted by: FireLily---------------------

I'm happy to pay for extra$ to get a nice spacious room for all of us.
I don't like to see people not being able to get in at the door so.....

Mini

Posted by: RetSenior---------------------

Everyone knows I'm easy. Count me in either way.

Posted by: Strick---------------------

That was easy. We are commited for 70 on Friday. That means $980 minimum price. We can go all the way up to 100 the addtional 30 will be at $14 per person.

Posted by: thumbs---------------------

Not a problem Strick. I got at least 3 bucks in change in my ashtray.

Posted by: desert_racer---------------------

Quote:

But I bet it's stacked neatly in there.

Posted by: thumbs---------------------

Yep, sure is. A sepratate stack for each coin value. The highest value on the left and lowest on the right. Then each stack has the newest coin on the bottom and the oldest on top. Thay way I get rid of the older coins sooner.

What, am I the only person that does this?

Posted by: desert_racer---------------------

Posted by: 380EXCman---------------------

Heck I would pay an extra couple bucks for the extra space to. Lord knows I need it......

Posted by: FireLily---------------------

Strick, is anybody making name cards for dinners?

Mini

Posted by: Strick---------------------

No one has said anything about name cards. Are you volunteering? If not, I nominate Mini. Do I hear a second?

Posted by: 380EXCman---------------------

I second that!

Posted by: desert_racer---------------------

All in favor say "I"

IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII

The I's have it. Congratulations Mini you have been voted into the office. :scream:

Posted by: FireLily---------------------

Ok, Ok! I'm hired.
Actually I am going to coordinate this job and give the real work for Buddy.
He is going to make " name stickers" that we can stick on our clothes, so we don't have to buy name card holders. Better than nothing, right?

Strick or Aimee, can you please send me a list of the people (both real names and DRN user names) who come to the dinners on Friday and Saturday? Minilily375@aol.com
Thank you.

Mini

Posted by: Buddy---------------------

Yup, we are having a special on name tags. From now until Feb 6th for the low cost of $2.39 I will inprint you name tag with your personal Avatar.

Posted by: Buddy---------------------

2 1/2 hours left!

Posted by: Strick---------------------

Capitalist Pig!

Posted by: FireLily---------------------

I know Buddy is bad!

Well, so far I counted 64 people on Friday and 60 people on Saturday.
Since I don't know most people's real names, I'm thinking to print just DRN user names. If you want to, you can always add your real names, right?
Also we are bringing extra stickers for people whose names are not shown in the thread.

Mini

Posted by: RetSenior---------------------

Thanks Buddy, Black name tag with name and border in KTM Orange.

Posted by: desert_racer---------------------

How's this for an avatar there Buddy Boy

Posted by: Buddy---------------------

So sorry, time has expired.
But I will make an exception for Desert Racer!
Pink side right Desert Race?

Buddy...It's only Feb 5th, I thought this deal ran till Feb 6th. Your a fellow KTMer, wouldn't the name tags look as cool as our bikes. OK you can do mine half-ass.

Posted by: Fe_princess---------------------

Saturday for Me & SFO!!!

Posted by: SirThumper---------------------

Little_Thumper will be there both nights as well.

Posted by: CSL---------------------

Our friend from Flagstaff is in. Please add a +1 for dinners both Friday and Saturday night.

Posted by: CJ Rider---------------------

Please ignore CSL's last statement. I already posted for our Flagstaff friend (3Banger).

I was thinking about the nametag thing. On one big street ride, 3Banger made little stickers with our forum AKAs on it that we could stick on our helmets. That would be really cool to do again. I just got back from Houston so I'll try to figure something out tomorrow (jetlag today). Mini- You have a list? Maybe GSR has the best attendee list?

Posted by: Pegasus---------------------

Strick..Please cancel Mary and Evan for Dinners, they cant make the trip.. Also Marshal and I wont make it in time for Fri dinner...might stop by and say hi if not to late... Keep us in for Sat !
Thanks !

Posted by: bbbom---------------------

Uh oh, what time is dinner Friday?

Posted by: Strick---------------------

Does 7:30 sound O.K.? That would/should give the Friday riders enough time to shower and get ready.

Posted by: thumbs---------------------

Shower????

Posted by: bbbom---------------------

7:30 should be fine for us, assuming the weather cooperates (and thumbS finds a shower!).

Posted by: FireLily---------------------

I should get 3 cans of Red Bull everyday.
One for the morning ride, one for the afternoon ride, and one before the dinner.....
7:30 sounds great!
Mini

Posted by: dirt bike dave---------------------

Strick,
If it's not too late, I would like to get a spot for Friday's dinner.

Dave

Posted by: Strick---------------------

Dave we would have the owner add an addition, just to have you there.

Actually it is no problem. I reserved for 70 and we can go up to 100.

Strick, I have gained a few pounds, but an entire addition will not be necessary.

See you Friday!

Posted by: Tree---------------------

Me and the family are in for Friday night-That will be me, the wife, son, and daughter.

Posted by: Strick---------------------

No problem with space.

Desert Racer - Saturday night buffet is an old local restaurant (in business since the 50's), the Gold 'n Silver. A true (BIG) family type coffee shop with a large meeting room. Don't expect neon lights and wood floors. It is a very simple place with good food, but most of all, ROOM for ALL of US. There is a bar adjacent to the meeting/banquet room for your dining pleasure.

See everyone soon!

Posted by: desert_racer---------------------

Can you post the address or give directions from the Peppermill?

Posted by: Strick---------------------

La Pinata (Friday night) - Take Virginia St (the street the Peppermill is on) North to Vassar St. Turn right on Vassar. Take Vassar down to Kietzke. The La Pinata is located in the (older)shopping center to your left just past Kietzke (Northeast corner of Vassar & Kietzke). You will see a convenience store/gas station on the corner of Vassar & Kietzke. The restaurant is in the center just behind it.

Gold 'n Silver (Saturday Night) - take Viriginia St. North to 4th street - turn left on 4th. Stay on 4th St. to Vine. The Gold 'n Silver will be on your left on the corner of 4th & Vine.

Posted by: desert_racer---------------------

Thanks.....

Posted by: bratt---------------------

Ok way late but count me in for both nights!

Posted by: NVR FNSH---------------------

Add one more to both Friday & Saturday night. I completely forgot about this....

Brian
