SF SX Pit passes?

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Never been to a SX so we don't know what to expect, I'd like to take the kids around to get autographs? Do you need a Pit pass to get access for autographs? If so, how do you get pit passes?(SXGP Web site doesn't have them!) Of the 45,000 people who attend the races, how many actually get pit passes? How long do you have to wait in line to get an autogr from the top riders? When is the best time for autograph seeking? Lot of questions here but I would like to be prepared! Thanks for any responses!

Another SX noob question: Gates open around noon for practice, racing starts at 7:30. If you go to practice, are you allowed to leave the stadium and then re-enter for the racing?

Speaking for the Dallas SX.... yes.  We watched some of the practices, left to take the kids swimming, and came back.  They did ding me two times for parking though.

Like TwinSpar pointed out that's the way it works in Dallas. Houston is pretty much the same BUT Las Vegas works differently. At about 4:00pm they clear the pits and if you enter the stadium your there, if you don't then you have to wait until about 6:00pm to re-enter. Me, TTRGuy, MXBundy, Scar and a bunch of others took to the parking lot for some refreshments. MXBundy, TTRGuy and myself happened to make some new lady friends that fed us some great carne' asada in exchange for meeting up with "Jack". Trust me football fans are not the only ones that can tailgate

Bottom line is I think it's determined by the venue as to how it all works. Heck every SX I've been to the pit passes were free EXCEPT Dallas where Jerry has to get every nickle he can :silly:
