What is the downside of putting my son on this big of a bike? He rides well, not too aggressive, seems to respect the power, can just touch ground on his toes and seems to like riding it. I was going to sell the bike but think I will keep it for a while and see how he does with it.

I think a lot of it depends on where he rides. If he is just riding around in fields, simple trails, &/or vintage style mx tracks, he will likely be fine. Put him on rough tight technical trails, or supercross style tracks, He might get himself in over his head in a hurry. Probably the worst thing that might happen is you dampen his confidence & he wears himself out on a technical trail. He might hurt himself on a MX track though.

Good points, and the same as I was thinking. I also have a ttr125l that he has been riding. It would still be available to him for the tough stuff.

I am 15 and have a CR125 and have no problems with it. I am on the small side for my age, 5'6" 140 pounds. After I got used to the height I didnt have any problems with it at all. I got it at the beginning of the summer and was comfortable enough to race it in motocross a few times at the end of summer. I love the bike and I think if he had the TTR just incase he wanted it that there would be no reason to sell the CRE. A little question though but what is the differene between the CRF and the CRE? Does it have an extra gear, headlight, and bigger gas tank or something? Like the YZF and WRF? Sorry I havent been keeping up on things lately. These 0 degree days have kept my mind about as far away from riding as it can get. WHERE IS SUMMER!?!?!?!?

It's really a CR250 the E just stands for the model year i believe.

Oh its a 250 two stroke? Well....that changes my answer. I assumed it was an offroad version of the CRF250. I was woundering how he got one of those because I didnt think they were out yet. Well I suppose if he still likes the bike and the power isnt too much for him then you could keep it as long as you arent needing the money or anything.

Technically it is an enduro model cr 250. It is an older bike but works real well. It is supposed to have the headlight, different suspension valving, a different jug with different porting and piston that makes it a 260. The bikes were produced by a company in Italy and imported to the US by the guy that owns E-line. Anyhow, that is probably more than you wanted to know.
