I just sold my kdx200 and I can't make up my mind 125 or 250. Looking at used bikes 00,01. My weight is 155 and i'm a decent rider I just haven't had a 125 since my teens(36 now).Dirt bike mag did a story on yz125 woods bike and it looked fun. Any help would be welcome. Thanks

if you enjoy the following activities, then by all means, get a 125 for the woods: replacing clutches, replacing top ends, keeping your engine wound out so as not to kill it, killing it, ect.

if you want a 125-like bike, try the yzf or wr250. either of these would make a far better woods bike than a 125 2 stroke

I went from a 250 to a 125 back in '91 and will never go back*. It started with finding out my lap times were the same on average no matter what I rode. I now run a YZ 125 in the 200 A class and I replace clutches about once every YEAR AND A HALF and piston and rings about twice a year. I do change gear oil (Castrol GTX 20w50) and air filter cleaning after every ride. Where the 125 shines is that it is easier on the body during a ride, over all price, and short of electric starting - nothing starts easier.

*OK, if I moved to the desert, I might consider a larger displacement ...
