What is the job situation like? Are they hiring elementary teachers? Do you have a link to the current pay scale?

Thanks

No its for my wife. She has been there long enough to avoid any of the pink slips. It all came about like this.......

About 8 years ago my sons mom and I split up. To get away from the bad situation her I transferred to Arizona with the company that I still work for.  Im sure it sounds bad but I was back here almost every weekend to pick up my son. After a year of traveling I talked to the owner of the company and we figured out a way for me to move back.  As luck would have it my wife who I had not yet met had moved back  from Kansas City the same day I returned from Arizona. I have always enjoyed AZ and figured I would move back out there later in life.

About 6 months ago my wifes stepdad put in a transfer request to move to CA but there were no available positions. The closest they could get is Arizona. He moved out about a month ago while her mom stayed to sell the house. She finally moved out and they bought a new house. My wife and I drove out there to help with unpacking, hanging blinds and all the other thing involved with a new house.

As we were driving through the desert coming home I wasnt really that happy. I actually was sad to be going home. So that night I got on the net and started looking at houses. I couldnt believe how cheap they were. Then I started reading about teaching jobs for my wife. Everything I could find was negative. Low salary..... teachers striking ....  no openings

So I thought I would try to get some first hand experience. Please share

I'll look tomorrow at the office in a few publications that I have. With NCLB I'm sure that even financially strapped states will still have to hire new teachers. Try the following link......for jobs, you probably already found it but anyways....

Oklahoma is in economic trouble as is Kansas. Several nontenured techers will not be renewed next year. Texas however is still hiring, so I know it's not a nation wide issue.

Does she have any expeience? Any specialties?

Thanks Justql.   As far as experience is concerned she is currently teaching a 4th/5th combo, taught kindergarten for 4 or 5 years and substitute taught for a year and a half. She has also been on various committes.
