Newbie Needs a Thumper

I'm trying to find an XR250 or equivalent for a newbie here in the 'Ham. Anybody have a decent bike for the guy? He wants to spend $2000 or less, and he's willing to travel.

JP, I've got a great 125 for sale, might not be the best for trails, if that's what he is looking for. I can bring it to the Spodefest if I still have it then.
