i was just wondering how do u guys set up u and ur bikes for an enduro. Like your suspeion gearing tirers, and what do u where like a hydration system and other stuff

A hydration system is a MUST (I have a 72oz camelback, but I think they make a 90 ounce and even an enduro type that has pockets and stuff)!! Along with bark busters, they saved me a couple broken fingers at least 5 times today alone. You'll want to have some kinda toolkit with you & a spare spark plug or two. Make sure you have a comfortable seat. You also might invest in some wide foot pegs (makes it easier to find em' when you're tired). A pipe guard (if your a 2-smoker) would be great and any other protection devices you can find without adding 100 punds (don't worry you'll manage to break stuff either way)
Also I have heard that solid break rotors work wanders in mud/woods
As for your suspension, you can go all out and have gold valves or mxtech valves installed and the rear shock revalved. Or you can just install the correct springs for your weight and play around with some clicker settings and oil heights (which you'll need to do either way). When test make sure you do big up-hills,down-hils, big & small logs, hard/soft ruts, rocks and those revine type things that go straight down and straight up again (like a V).
A stearing stabilizer isn't a bad idea, but it is EXPENSIVE!
Tires depend on what you ride (like usually muddy or usually hard-pack)
Also note that the mount of air presure in a tire changes with temp. and can have a big effect on your tires performance.
Gearing depends on the bike, the terrain, riding skill, and most importantly your personal preferance. You'll just have to do some testing with this one also.
What bike do you ride and what series are you planning on doind (someone maybe able to give tire advice)
Good luck and I hope this helps.

That's pretty basic. The first thing you should do is make sure you finish the race. Get armor. Barkbusters are a must. Rad guards and skidplates are a close second. Then get a hydration system. I'm amazed that I get thirsty in a wet race, but I do. A fanny pack with a few basic tools is good too.
Aside from that don't get too fancy. Figure out what you need first. Don't be swayed by someone else's fancy bike. A riding buddy of mine has a very tricked out and sweet DRZ. The funny part is that I am always in front of him with my stock DRZ. Mods are done to suit the rider.
Hope this helps. I written a few articles on racing on my website at:http://teamgrizzly.tripod.com

the metal and plastic thing that covers the levers. they're not hard to install. I payed like 60$ for mine (acrebis). Well worth the money I'd say.
teamgrizzly - are you saying my post was pretty basic? or his question?
