Tires

I ride mostly track and have use about every tire out there and would like to know what others think the best tire to use is for medium to hard pack conditions.
I have had the best luck with the M12 rear and M13 front for hooking up and lasting the longest

I've used the Kenda Carlsbad on my 250, and it holds up pretty well in medium to hard conditions. Usually where I ride it is also rocky, which tends to rip the knobs up. The Kenda has held up the best, and the traction is good also.

Whats an M-13?

Here is my two cents.
Dunlop 739 rear and front. Good straight line traction, breaks away predectably in turns. Doesn't work as well as a Maxis IT when you have a thin film of mud over hard pack. It will wear quickly when run on hard pack and rocks.

Dunlop 756 Rear
Works ok in hard pack. On hard pack will skate going into sweeping turns. Naturally, the softer the dirt the better it will work. Actually works better than a 739 when you have a thin film of mud over hardpack.

Maxis IT Good straight line and cornering traction, Breaks away predictably and wears better than a Dunlop 739 or 756 on rocks and hard pack. However, it may chunk sometimes in rocks. I have found it to be less expensive than a Dunlop.

M12 front and Rear
I hate these tires. The front tires knobs are too short for soft terain and are not stiff enough for hard pack. For me it makes the front skate in turns. The rear is just as bad. Poor straight line traction and will break away all at once. It is poor in sand. I bought a front and rear M12 last year rode one race on them and threw them away. My opinion is that I would rather ride on the rim than use an M12 on the front or rear.

Yesterday I replaced my Dunlop 739 with a Maxxis IT. The only thing that seemed to be odd is the Maxxis is narrower. Both tires are 100-100/18. I rode the bike today and it felt fine. I just cant figure out why the 739 is wider.
