i'm trying to adjust front and rear suspenders on my bike and everything i try seems to get things worst. There must be to much adjusters for my little brain!I'm 6 foot tall 200 pounds riding mostly hardpack motocross with lots of medium size jumps and everything is stock oil heights and springs and i'd like to keep it that way.I'm tired of getting beat up in the rough! Some adjustment tips would be welcome. thanks

I did a spring rate check for you and i got these rates for your weight
Your stock fork spring rate is.....44 kg/mmkg/mm
Your stock shock spring rate is....5.0 kg/mmkg/mm
Your recommended shock spring rate is....4.92kg/mm
Your recommended fork spring rate is....0.442kg/mm
so the rates are good for your weight.
First thing to try is to set the sag -i run between 95 and 100mm on my bikes, 100mm usually gives a plusher ride. After that it onlt the clickers that can help you unless you are willing to get it revalved.I suspect you will not find a very good compromise with just the clickers.MXA are about the only ones who think the 02 yz250 has good suspension.

i have found a big mistake is to run too much rebound, when looking for that plusher ride rebound seems to make the bike pack too much. I would go for 12 clicks out on the forks (the top clicker) and 12 out on the shock, the bottom adjuster as baselines for that end.

WHAT ABOUT THE OTHER CLICKERS,COMP AND HI SPEED?

yep, they will definately need adjusting.

Serge,
I have that bike. The stock spring rates are .43 forks and 4.8 on the shock.
If your getting beat up in the rough stuff, then start by increasing the compression (bottom clicker) on the fork by 2 clicks at a time turning it in. I'd leave the rebound alone. When my bike was stock, I increased compression by 4 clicks in, left the rebound stock at 9 clicks out, and put the forks 10 mm up into the triple clamp. I never messed with the shock. I weigh 180-185. Remember, if its rough more than likely, you're riding down in the stroke where its harsher, so increase the comp to make the bike ride higher in the stroke.

You need a 5.4kg shock spring other wise when you set your race sag (100mm) you will have no free sag. Use .44kg fork springs to help keep the bike balanced.Use 5wt oil in the forks set at 100mm from the top.
Fork comp. 12 out reb. 10out
Shock low speed 12 out high speed 2 turns out
reb. 10 out
These settings will be much better but this bike is usually harsh yet will still bottom with the std suspension.
