Hello. Im going to buy a new KDX but can't decide which one to get, a 200 or 220. Anyone have any suggestions. Seems from what I have read that the 220 just proivdes more torque. I plan on doing mods to increase preformance. Used to rideing a kx 250 that I just sold. Which one? Thanks!!

People are going to know what kind riding you do.

I would say I ride fast paced, trail riding, mx style. No jumping. I guess I would say im looking for high rev power with quick throttle response. I know I can get that from both bikes, so do I just buy the cheapest one? What is the advantage in spending the extra $400 for the 220? Thanks

go with the kdx200 because there actually faster on top the kdx 200 has a smaller carb and has more bottom then u can shake a stick at.if u had extra for the 220 u can bore the carb $90 and fmf rev pipe and power core 2 silencer $284. i would go with the kdx 200 its not worth spending $400+ for 20 more cc'c

sorry its the 220 with the smaller carb

Thanks for the info KDXMANN. Anybody else? Seems with all the 200 and 220 owners here I would have a lot more suggestions. Help me out guys!!

200, will suit you much better coming off the kx. The 220 has more lowend, but doesn't rev anywhere near as well. They are both excellent bikes. If you get a good on either bike go for it. I love my 200, and like the power characteritics a little more. Put a torque pipe on the 200, and you not be left wanting more lowend, and there will be plenty of rev on top.

Just another bit of advice, you may want to check several dealerships, the prices in my area varied. Total prices, with dealer prep.. etc ranged from $4050 ( for a still new 2001 ) to $4800 for a new 220. I was able to get mine for $4100 total out the door. I have heard people getting lower than that on a new 220

We have the 220, down in the swamps, just about everybody goes the same top speed. not much difference between the two bikes in our situation, although the 220 does have a bit more low-end. We purchased our 2002 new in 2002 for $3900 from the dealer, so for us it came down to availability and price. I think you'll like either one.

The search function gets you lots of great stuff from this forum, like a few from my favorites on this subject (unedited) below...and don't forget the JustKDX website with an article comparing the two motorcyles. Enjoy the new bike! - Jeff

Well, well, well, looks like piedkuiper has a situation on his hands. I bought my 220 before I really knew about the 200's. I done all the usual mods to mine, and I love it. Same as you stated before, trails only, and fast.
Whichever decision you make will be good, as long as it's GREEN.
