CRF150F vs. XR200

Do any of you have any exp. on either of these bikes?

Does the 150 have "any" top end? Or is it all down low for tooling around on trails?

Is the 200 much faster? Handle okay?

I had bought a 125 2str. for my nephew and he just isn't agressive enough for it. It's a little tall for him. He does okay on the track but up in the trails... the thing eats him up! He can't seem to grasp the whole idea of being "on the pipe."

Oh well. Any info is greatly appreciated.

I have not riden a crf150 the XR200 is a fun bike for tooling around the trails at low speed, really easy power delivery the suspension is WAY less than a 125 MXer. The KDX 200/220 may be better their seat hieght is pretty low but much more fun with lots a putting power with the added get up and go when the need rises. Will provide limitted mx track fun, XR200 forget it.

The CRF looks pretty cool, but much less machine than a KDX200.

IT200

I bought the CRF150 for my son about 6 monthes ago. I also owned an XR200 about 2 years ago. From a stock stand point, the CRF is a much better bike. Better suspension, great torque for a kid on the trails, and better performance potential. It would be a good choice for someone who is new to the sport or someone who doesn't like 2 strokes and their finicky power delivery. If he wants more power at a later time, there are plenty of options to increase the performance. My son loves his CRF150..

The CRF150 does have good top end. I think they are very close in quickness, the CRF has a better head design and I was told by POWROLL that the CRF150 head flows better (more aIr) than the XR200 head.

The CRF handles alot better than the XR200.

Hey Brian,

Check out www.bbrmotorsports.com They have a bunch of hop-up stuff for the mini's. Couple of things to consider - a REV box to open up the top end, some airbox box & filter mods, and aftermarket pipe.

Well I have a 1988 XR200R and its a great bike. but yes if a tt125 is to much for him then a 200 would probably be to much because it's on the 215-220 pound side fuled up. but its good for me cause im a little but over 6FT and 170-175 pounds so im thinking about a 125 or 250 honda of course.
