What 125 to avoid? year/make

Hi all,
I'm looking to get a 125 MX bike, and would appreciate a low-down on what models are good and which are "bad". By bad I mean downsides (like CRs are supposed to be low on power) or other stuff. I know that any bike I get will be satisfying and fun...but if I could avoid having 4hp less than the other 125 in the gang...that'd be nice. And if I can ride rather than being in the garage, that's even better...
I won't be getting anything older than 97 (reeeeally as old as I will consider)...but 2000+ is about right.
This way, I won't be drooling on right-priced models that suck anyways
thx

well i dont have any specific years, but the yz's are ususally the top rated 125's for the past few years.

I'll put in a second for the YZ... great motor, tranny, suspension, great everything. I'm in love with my 2001. Maintenece hasn't been an issue either. Just do your normal stuff on schedule, and your good to go!

hate to sound like a pain...but I don't like the YZ styling, nor the RM. So actually, those are the 2 bikes that are the last on my list. First stands ktm, then tm (2nd because of an alleged notchy transmission), then CR/KX.
I just don't remember what years of KX and CR have poor power...

Yeah, I agree. From a styling standpoint, I love the aluminum frame of the Honda, and then the KTMs, then the KX, then the YZ. I guess it all depends what your looking for... when I'm roosting the guy behind me, I bet he's wishing he had made it down the straightaway faster, not wishing he had my plastic!

I hate to be a flamer but nothing steers like a CR or brakes like one.

TM's don't shift notchy, where'd you hear that?! I own a TM and I've ridden most of the newer bikes. Tm's totally shift like a Honda does, they practically mimic the way a CR feels in every way. Lever feel, lever pull/throw even the way the bike changes gear feels the same. The TM is a slick shifting bike and the parts are high quality the bike shifts excellently under a load I.E. wide open no clutch. Not like my '02 YZ 125 which would resist shifting under a load like that more then it ever did actually shift like that it and when it resisted forcing the issue would of caused damnage. I'd picked one of these 125's RM, YZ or KTM they got the alot of things going for them for various reasons and have like the best motors to modify.
