I managed to find a PW80 for a price I just couldn't pass up. Now I have to keep it under wraps until his birthday at the end of May. That will give me some time to go through it and give it a good inspection.

Good luck....I would prolly break that puppy out tomorrow
Never was very good at saving surprises

LOL! Im in the same boat as you. Yesterday I picked up an '03 PW50 for my daughters 6th bday and now Im stuck with keepin a secret until the end of June. I suck at keeping secrets! I think I'll tear down the motor and rebuild it with a 60cc kit (even tho its brand new) and an FMF pipe. Naaaw, I'll just have to find something to break on my bike to keep my filthy hands off it.
Im almost tempted to open a bet on you and me to see who can hold out the longest. Im not confident that i'll last

The biggest problem I have is keeping my son from findig it , he's a nosy little bugger.

Just tell him there's a great big super duper huge surprise for him on the grounds somewhere, but if he finds it--you'll beat him over the head with it and send it back.
You laugh....it works. Worked on me.

If you have a garage with rafters put it up there. He won't find it unless he can get up there somehow lol. With this amazing weather thoe I doubt I would be able to keep it from him. mid 70's here in buffalo . . . if I didn't need to do a top end I'de be havein a nice easter ride at the land.

Pics... Humm... Have to check into that.
We did LOTS of reinforcing on the frame,
Rear gear change,
.080 off the head and reshaped the dome,
.080 over piston and drilled the rear skirt on the piston,
Bored out the carb 2mm,
Drilled out the airbox for better flow,
We were running a 72 to 76 main jet (depending on conditions) and I don't remember the pilot.
One thing we did NOT do was bypass, or remove, the injection system. It worked fine for us the whole time.
Boy, the good ole days! PW 50s were fun!
